All blacks in New Orleans got $5000 in cash, got their hotel bill paid and are now getting brand new trailers and free food. They are parasites! They ripping hard working Americans off! Shame on them!
Blacks are parasites? WOW. There are a lot of white people in the same mess down there. Are they parasites too? If you had your whole world ripped from you what would you do? Many people have been shipped all over the country. How do expect them to survive without aid? Do you want them dumped out on the street to forage in the garbage for a bite to eat? Do you want the children sleeping out in the open for lack of shelter? I hope to God that you don’t. They are still finding bodies in the rubble down there. This whole thing was such a horrible disaster and you begrudge the help that these families so desparately need. Shame on you.
I can not talk for the visitor that left the comment and said that blacks are parasits nor do I agree with him, BUT I guess in parts he is right.
Ann, you were asking what would I do…?
First of all, I would have left when the warnings were issued. If you live in an area which is very likely to be flooded you HAVE TO precautions (money saved, car etc.). IF you choose to not have precautions, it’s your own fault and you can not rely on the government to take care of you.
As for the children: Of course you can’t blame them. I suggest to only help the kids/children and leave their parents on their own. The same of course for elderly and disabled people.
But I don’t see why we should pay with our tax money for people that are able but just choose not to take care of their own life.

If you live in a hurricane prone area, you can’t just pick up and leave every single time a warning is issued. Every year these areas get anywhere between 10 - 30 weather warnings. Have you ever had an employer who would tolerate you picking up your family and taking off so often? I don’t think so.
The last major flooding prior to Katrina was Betsy in the mid 1960’s. Between Betsy and Katrina I bet hundreds of warnings were issued over the years.
The flooding during Katrina probably wouldn’t have been so devastating if Bush didn’t cut the funding for NO’s levee program and open up an already vulnerable city to flood waters.
I cannot believe that in this day and age that racist assholes like yourselves can carry on a “dialogue” about your hate ideas and talk of the liberal media getting it wrong. take your heads out of your oil lobby asses.
Excuse me…. I am one of those who received FEMA money after my apartment collapse during Katrina. It’s obvious lots of you are racist, and more obvious that NONE of you know anything about New Orleans or it’s culture. Did you know it has the same socio-economic statistics as Haiti??? And that’s just a start.

And Shelley, I’m sure you have a big nice SUV and you can evacuate any time you want. New Orleans had 1/3 of it’s population depended on public transport or bicycles. Funny how you say “have to have” these things when most of the city made less than $6 an hour and was feeding children on it.
So what are you doing now? Down there building houses, or maybe even adopting abandon animals? Ya doing anything Shelley? Did you make a contribution to the Red Cross? Did you pray for those “parasites?” Cause your profile claims your taking action, and all I see is a whiney rich white girl, picking on poor white girls like me.

By precautions do you mean they should have horded money therefore keeping it from benefiting the economy, essentially taking from everyone else in the US anyways? The problem isn’t who pays for it, everyone does either way. The problem is that resources (wood, cement, dirt, trees, etc…) were placed in harms way. America has a fairly evenly distributed economy where the standard deviation of income is pretty narrow, meaning that harm to one is harm to all. Same with the rest of the world. It’s called interdependance, it’s how the world works from the human scale down to the sub-atomic scale (if you believe in such things).
Rupi is right! We should never have enslaved blacks and brought them over here! We should have done our own labor and left them there to kill each other off in the jungle in tribal warfare.
But thanks to our ancestors, they’re here… they’ve been turned loose… and they’re killing each other off in our streets, and anyone else who gets caught in the crossfire.
Worse than that - they think we owe them something! So, they sit at home having babies, collecting unemployment and welfare… feeding off of our hard-earned dollars like black parasites, contributing nothing to society but poverty. In short, dragging our whole society down.
