I don’t have the great insight and knowledge Tristan has when it comes to that tech stuff, but I will attempt to write an article why I think it’s utterly wrong to use Google’s services.
Google is an enemy of the citizens of the USA, because on the one hand they refuse to turn over search results to the US-government in order to enable them to fight terrorism and internet porn (article) and on the other hands they have now agreed to censor search results in China and take any chance to get real news from the poor oppressed Chinese people (article).
Google is using the so called PigRank? search technology. It became popular in the early 90’s when the internet porn revolution started. The Google search results included an everage of 55% of pornographic web sites, no matter what you have been looking for. A sickening example for this porn promoting practice are the many Google porn groups are hosted on Google servers (example). Sometimes these groups have up to 100,000 members and up to 500 emails a day containing porn images send between the members. Google got even sued before, for profiting from child porn (article)!
The email service called “Gmail” is very popular these days, but have you asked yourself why Google is now giving away almost 3GB of free mailbox space? Do you think they are just good people out to give big gifts? Think again: Every email you write, every email you receive is searched, filtered and analyzed in order to send you commercial offers of all kinds. Where is your privacy now, democ-rats?
So, why do some people still use Google? There are better alternatives like for example the great internet search engine from Microsoft called MSN search.

- video.google.com —> youtube.com
- gmail.com —> hotmail.com
- google toolbar —> msn toolbar
- blogger.com —> spaces.msn.com
- maps.google.com —> mapsonus.com
- news.google.com —> msnbc.msn.com
Now you have the inconvenient truth; it is you that has to act accordingly. Please boycott Google and their hateful ideology.

Thank you Shelley. Google is one of the most harmful companies in the world. They are a friend to the paedophile and the athiest. When patriots learn the extent to this company’s misdeeds they will surely stay well away from it’s tainted services.
They use Linux technology, which basically means that they may already be “0wned” (to use the hacker jargon) by anti-american foregin hackers.
As I explained in my article “Linux, a European Threat”, the Linux program is developed on a socialist model. It’s advocates wish that America had not won the cold war. By using Linux you are supporting the terrorsits and anti-american peaceniks.

Shelley, first of all, Google’s search technology isn’t called PigRank, but PigeonRank wich was developed by the founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University, so please, verify your sources. Secondly, in Google, you have a little tool called SafeSearch wich blocks web pages containing explicit sexual content from appearing in search results.
Also, your are saying that in Gmail, every email is filtered, I heard that it is true, but I have never received any single advertisment, i’ve been using Gmail for 2 years.

1. It’s unjust, doesn’t treat poeople equally, therefore leads
to society degeneration.
2. It punishes active individuals with taxes thus discourages
them to make efforts, which leads to poverty.

The search algorithms arent “evil” they are bits of code strung together to try and help the user find what they want. Ive used MSN and Yahoo (sorry that yahoo isnt owned by Microsoft) and never found the information i was looking for. And mind you i dont look up porn, i was trying to find information on a research paper i was writing. I used Google, and found everything. I use what works, so i use Google. If i cant find it with Google (which i dont even remember the last time that happened) i wouldnt use search.MSN.com
And some information to china brought to them by google, as opposed to information brought to them by a state (china) owned company is a step forward, remember (and you should know this) you can always find information on the internet, you just have to know how to look for it..
If msn wants to replace google they should make a better search engine, that’s what make people use google, it is a great search engine.
The same goes about hotmail vs. gmail. Gmail’s superiority is out of discussion.
Sorry Shelley it is not about using a company’s service because it is more “patriotic” than another one. It is a free market, so either you install a fascist nazi regime or you learn to live with it.

You cannot blame the content of the Internet on a tool designed to search it. Someone mentioned gun control earlier, and I’ll get to that, but Google is different to a weapon. You can do good with Google, whereas a weapon is made for a sole purpose - to harm. That in mind, how can you compare the two? It?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s like banning dictionaries because people have been beaten to death with them.
And then there’s porn. Quite frankly, you have to blame that on the people misusing Google rather than Google itself. Say you’ve just bought a brand new PC (I don’t know if you get the same on Macs, because I don’t use Macs). The first time you go to the Google search, the filters are set to moderate. I did a test, and you won’t find anything truly despicable on moderate. Any responsible parent can ensure the search filters are on, and it?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s their concern if they don’t.
Gmail is really so much better than hotmail; I’m not going to bother explaining it.
As for toolbars, why would I use a toolbar? I use Firefox, its got Google, Amazon, Ebay, Dictionary.com, Yahoo, even MSN if I want it.

I think you missed the point of gun control. It isn’t laying blame on the weapon - as you said, its the person who kills people. But would you put a gun in the hand of the person who kills people? actually, only Google.cn (the Chinese Google homepage) is censored. People in China can access Google.com and get unfiltered results. however, the Chinese gov doesnt like this so they are deliberately throttling bandwidth to Google.com. Luckily you can get around this by using a proxy website, but unfortunately most Chinese ppl aren’t very ‘techie’ when it comes to stuff like that :(

i hate to admit this, but, several years ago microsoft.com was hit by a ddos attack. ddos means distributed denial of attack. imagine a million windows pc taken over by a black hat criminal and being used in a robot/zombie attack againt microsoft.com. the site went down.
the microsoft response was to call in akamei and have them host the microsoft.com web sites. akamei uses an inhouse modified version of linux. so in fact, all microsoft websites run on linux.

When a computer idiot wants a map, he/she opens up “the internet,” which may or may not include Google, and types in “maps” into whatever search bar makes itself available. If particularly savvy, the idiot will open up Google specifically, then click on the “maps” link on the front page.

Im Norwegian, we have one of the largest gun densities in the world. Right now we have a sosialist government. We are among the richest contries in the world and our policeforce dont even wear guns. They have them locked down in their cars but always need authorization, or extreme good reasons, to unlock them. We have almost no killings(less than canada) and we really like it this way.
