Cars : A matter of character

Dear Friends

A car is a tool, made to handle the everyday life, but a car is also much more, it outlines the character of the owner, it tells you right away if the owner is an American patriot or a liberal America-hater.

The automobile is an American invention and American car companies have always been leading the automotive innovation. The typical Cadillac is powerful and comfortable, the typical Chrysler is affordable and durable and the typical Chevrolet is a hardcore working tool, built to last. The automobile is a member of the typical America family and it’s an integral part of our society.

Proud to be an American : 350 Horses, ice cold air condition, soft seats : The American Dream on four wheels

The Hummer H2 : Huge, powerful, beautiful : America at it’s best
In Europe the car is widely understood as a tool of war. The Germans copied early models of the Oldsmobile V44 and built the so called “Volkswagen” (Weaponboat).

The Nazi-Volkswagen : The company “Volkswagen” has it’s roots deep in the nazi history. They used slave labor to built the cars and used the cars for war.

The former nazi status symbol : Mercedes Benz
It is safe to say that the European car industry is a failure from the start. European cars are unsafe and unreliable. European car companies are constantly trying to imitate American car models. A good example for that is the “Volkswagen Alhambra”. This car is almost 100% identical with the American “Ford Galaxy”. If you take a closer look though you will very quickly see that the European fake version is lacking in quality.

The Citroen 2 CV
Less power than the average American lawn mover, maximum high speed 45 mph and a frontal crash with 20 mph is deadly

MCC Smart Pure : The watch-maker “swatch” in cooperation with Renault is trying to built cars
Pathetic attempt to copy the great “AMC Pacer” : This absurd car model is only successful in certain poor parts of eastern Europe and in China
Generally the UK are a little more talented when it comes to building cars. They have some great companies like Rollce Royce and Jaguar but there are downsides: The BMW (British Motor Works) has a history of unreliability.

BMW - British Motor Works : You almost feel sorry for them. They try so hard to come up with a decent car but never reach the level of their American counterparts
You might ask yourself: Why are American importing foreign cars? My answer is: No American does. Only liberal democ-rats do. And democ-rats are not Americans.

God bless you my friends.
And may God continue to bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave.

Yes, American cars still have the edge. You forgot to mention the tiny Japanise cars with their underpowered laughable “Hybrid” engines. They are no use at all on the open road. I cannot imagine any American would consider buying a car with a range of less than 200 miles!

  2. NiKKKi July 25th, 2006 6:36 pm

    I agree with you Shelley!
    You are a great lady!

    Here are some corrections:

3rd of July 1886: The history of cars begins…in Mannheim, Germany. The inventor of the fist car is Carl Benz. Some time later Gottlieb Daimler presents another car…in Stuttgart, Germany

The Volkswagen-company was founded by the will of A.H - correct…
But after war the British government took control and reorganized the company. In 1946 the popular VW Kaefer was produced.
And there is another mistake in translation: Volkswagen does not mean Weaponboat.
    Volk=people Wagen=Vehicle … so it means \”Vehilce for the people\” or \”people\’s car\”

The smart is not a product of the cooperation of swatch and Renault but a cooperation of swatch and Daimler-Benz (the company which saved Chrystler by fusing - take a look at the companies development after the fusion)

BMW does not stand for British Motor Works but for Bavarian Motor Works - a company founded and still settled in Munich, Germany

This is for all stupid idiots out there…
    (no…this is not a double negation…)
…for all those of you who believe this shit here.
Does someone know wikipedia.com? Just take a look at it…and perhaps you will see, that there is a world behind your limited ken

    Dear Shelley

Is it wrong for me to ask the Lord Jesus Christ to lower petrol (gasoline) prices here in the UK, so that I can afford to fill the tank of my hummer?

How will I ever demonstrate that this liberal lie known as “global warming” is nonsense if I am forced to walk to the shops on my own two feet? I feel that Jesus would want me to pollute so that I may make environmentalists cry and gnash their teeth - for that is what they will be doing on the day of judgement, after all. Then, Jesus will expose their lies to ALL the righteous conservatives amongst us!

    Yours, troubled,

    Leopoldo

BMW means Bayerische Motoren Werke or in english: Bavarian Motorcompany. They are a german company and the headquarters are in munich.

Voskswagen means peaples car and not weaponboat. Don’t try to translate if you don’t know the language.
And by the way the most powerfull cars are build in europe: Buggati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maybach, Aston martin…. and so on

You do realize that the Hummer you have pictured is a H-1. Also that Volkswagon means people’s car and BMW isn’t British Motor Works, it’s Bavarian Motor Works, as in German. Plenty of errors, plenty of stupid, keep it up. Real funny shit.

  7. thirqual July 25th, 2006 8:57 pm

    Volkswagen = weapon boat
    Brilliant. Really. Brilliant.

Not as brilliant as Smart by Renault, or BMW - British Motor Works, but quite close.

Keep up the good work !

    All’s I gotta say is:

    USA! USA! USA!

    DAMN STRAIGHT!

  9. DutchGuy July 25th, 2006 9:35 pm

    Hi Shelley,

I’m sorry to say, but almost all of the information you give on your site about non-US cars is incorrect. Please let me explain.

    1. The automobile is a European invention. The first steam car was made by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot (France, 1765). The car was first used by the French Army. The first car with an Internal Combustion engine was also made by a Frenchman, namely Etienne Lenoir in 1862. This car (especially the engine) was improved bij the German Nikolaus Otto (in 1878) and was commercially successfully produced by Gottlieb Daimler in 1885.

1b. Volkswagen has nothing to do with the word ‘Weaponboat’. Volkswagen literally means ‘the people’s car’.

    2. The Volkswagen beetle was indeed developed in Germany during the nazi era. However, it’s in no way a copy of any Oldsmobile plan. The car and engine were specifically designed by Ferdinand Porsche from Austria to be a car for the masses. His first plans date from 1922. This car was a tool for the Hitler regime to fool its own people. However, no slavery was involved. Today’s design of the Porsche 911 (Porsche is a German sporscar producer) still refers to this strange rear-engined, rear-wheel drive design, which (after WWII) has been a tremendous success, even in the US.

    3. In Europe the car is not understood as a tool of war at all. We have the same attitude and love towards our cars as Americans do. We build and prefer other cars, because we live in another environment. For this reason, most US-made cars for the european market are totally different from their US-versions. You can easily check this on the web.

    4. The European car industry has been (and is) very successful. A lot of brands have disappeared (Just like in the US) because of large merges and for marketing reasons. Just like in the US, European car makers have had difficult times every now and then.

    5. The safest production cars in the world are made in Europe, namely in Sweden by SAAB and Volvo. FYI: SAAB is nowadays a GM partner, Volvo a Ford partner, mainly because of their experience in the field of safety. For example: Volvo introduced the safety belt.

    6. Japanese cars are the most reliable cars, and have been so for ages. Maybe that’s why the Toyota Camry is such a smashing success in the US market.

    7. The Seat Alhambra/Volkswagen Sharan/Ford Galaxy are actually the same car for 99%. The engine and interior are different. This car was co-developed by Ford en Volkswagen to cut development cost, and increase development speed. They both needed an MPV fast. Seat is a low-cost brand of Volkswagen. The VW and Seat versions are indeed less luxury than the Ford Galaxy. They are intended to, and are quie a bit cheaper too - the Ford and the VW/Seat aim at a different public. All three cars are of excellent quality.
European car manufacturers don’t try to imitate American cars. Some design features are sometimes taken over (like wings in the 50’s/60’s), but most such cars were actually produced in Europe by American companies (especially GM).

    8. The Citro??Ǭ¥n 2CV is more or less Europe’s T-Ford, the first affordable car for the masses. There are still a lot riding around, cherished by hobbyists. The car is very comfortable and economical, and was a convertible as standard, and does 50 mpg easily. It can do approx. 75 miles per hour. It is indeed quite unsafe, just like any other car from its era.
A crash of 20 mph of course is not deadly, not even while you’re not in a car. Floyd Landis survived quite a few, for instance.

    9. The Smart is a development and production of DaimlerChrysler (an Euro-American merger consisting of Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz). It is an ugly, but innovative 2-seater luxury town car, designed with the Swiss watch maker Swatch. It’s 50% American. The car is sold all over the world, especially to people living in large cities. In Eastern Europe however, this car is not easily available, mainly due to its high price. This tiny car is incredibly safe. From this month, the Smart will be available to the American people, starting in NYC (see smartusa.com). Smart also produce a beautiful, very small, 2-seater roadster.
In your terms, buying a Chrysler is no longer politically correct. All Mercedes and Chrysler cars are built by DaimlerChrysler, based in Germany under largely German management. If you don’t want to buy one of their cars, avoid the following brands (hold on to your seat): Mercedes, Smart, Maybach, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Freightliner, Mitsubishi, Sterling Trucks, Western Star Trucks, Thomas Buses, Setra Trucks and Buses, Orion Utility Vehicles and Detroit Diesel engines. They also run the DaimlerChrysler corporate Bank.

    10. BMW means Bayerische Motoren Werke, or Bavarian Motor works. It’s an independent high-quality high-tech luxury (sports)car manufacturer from M??Ǭ?nchen, Bavaria, Germany. Their luxury cars have always been very reliable, and are an upmarket success, especially in the USA. You might very well know the 7-series, 5-series and the X5 SUV, and their radical sports cars. BMW is widely known for their amazing engines, build quality, innovations and reliability.
They have nothing to do with Rolls-Royce (owned by Volkswagen) or Jaguar (owned by Ford). Some years ago, BMW acquired Land Rover (later sold to Ford). BMW also produces the successful Mini, and is an innovative motorcycle brand.

    11. The beautiful Chrysler sports car on your website is still an (advanced) concept. It will actually be a more civilized version of the Dodge Viper. I’d love to drive one! It will also be available in Europe. When you get one, please don’t attach bumper stickers or a swastika to it ;-)

Please check your stuff before putting it on the web.

I find there is nothing wrong with American cars! (except they are a bit thirsty for us, poor Europeans). Buy the car you like best, a car is not a political statement. Don’t tell nonsense about non-US cars. That’s childish. If you ever buy a Chrysler FirePower, I won’t consider you a nazi.

  10. Guyzmoo July 25th, 2006 11:03 pm

I’m very sorry for you, first you don’t know very well the univers of car. BMW is germain, and means Bayerisch Motoren Werke. Then you show a very old model. And finaly, when an europ??Ǭ©en importe an american car, he have one probelm to solve first : respect the law about security because american car don’t offert enouth security and have to spend money for that. If it’s a model that not imported by Ford for exemple. And Finaly, the first car was creat and invented by a french. But Henry Ford was the first who make a serial car. And the 2CV is not built since 20 years or more, and the Bigest car manufacturer in the wolrd is now Renault/Nissan, not General Motors or Ford… It seems you miss several years…

  11. Guyzmoo July 25th, 2006 11:11 pm

Sorry, i forgot several things. Volkswagen doesn’t mean : Weaponboat but “the car of the people”

How could you invent such things??? Better to go on the official web site and read the truth!

And sorry the moste powerfull car and perfomed are italian with : Ferrari, Mazarati, Lomborgini.., english with : Aston Martin, TVR…, german with Porche, BMW, Mercedes. And is not 350 horses but 500, 800 or 1001 horses

And i don’t foget japan cars with, for exemple : the toyota Supra, or Nissan Skyline (who was elected the best car in the world there is not so much years)

  12. Jason Corfman July 25th, 2006 11:58 pm

I dare you to find a car that is 100% reliable.

I have had such bad luck with Ford that I will never buy another vehicle from them as long as I live. Unfortunately, my first choice for automobiles (Oldsmobile) is no longer manufacturing. I have had decent luck with Chevys, and will probably buy from them the next time I need a car (although I might consider a Saturn). The first car I purchased was a Dodge (related to Chrysler). I liked that car, but I had problems with it as well.

And then there are car companies like Toyota, which is foreign owned but most of the time is built and assembled in the U.S., which means American workers get paid for the construction of the car. (Toyota just announced that it was building a huge car factory in a U.S. town I used to live in.) So sometimes the line between foreign and domestic cars is blurred. (I might add that I have never owned one… Ford, Dodge, Oldsmobile and Chevys are the limit of my experience as an owner.)

BTW, Volkswagon means “People’s Wagon” or “Wagon for the People”, not “weaponboat”.

  13. errata corrige July 25th, 2006 11:59 pm

Volkswagen comes from Volks (people) and wagen (car).
BMW is a german car maker
Smart was from mercedes (yes, those who bought crysler to save it) not renault.
Alhambra is from Seat, the volkwagen version is the sharan.

  14. Sam Johnston July 26th, 2006 4:10 am

    @3 Dear Leopoldo,

Don’t be troubled. You sound like a man of God and will get your reward in heaven. It’s not wrong for lower gas prices, it’s something I pray for everyday, alongside the safety of our troops and death to Al Gore.

    Yours in Christ,

  15. The Comic Book Guy July 26th, 2006 6:01 am

    1. The car is a German invention. Karl Benz build the first car in the 1880’s.
    2. American cars have no real quality. They are too big (for you, a little car is 5.00 m long). But I know that those things are only prejudices.
    3. BMW MEANS “Bayrische Motorenwerke”, so they come from Bavaria!

  16. Dr.gonzo July 26th, 2006 6:32 am

This site is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. How can one person create that much nonesense? The Picture of the Humvee is a H1 … the Smart project is a joint-venture between Mercedes-Benz (or DC) and Swatch and not Renault (even though the plant is in frabce).
The things you said about the Ford Galaxy and the Volkswagen Alhambra (which is actually a Seat) is a well know fact. They developed it togther, and in case you would know anything about the car industry, you wouldn’t be posting such a stupid stuff.

BMW stands for “Bayrische Motoren Werke” and is German.

Don’t you feel stupid, beeing wrong about every singel point you are posting here. Don’t you feel ashame to present the world the reason why (some) Americans are hated all over the world.

Ohh ok, I think a got it. Noone can really be that stupid, this page is a rip-off to make fun of stupid conservative people. :) Keep up the great work.

  17. Bram July 26th, 2006 6:52 am

    Just so you know
A little quote from Jeremy Clarckson.
A guy who loves American muscle cars.

The only problem with American cars is.
Any European engineer gets more horsepower out of a pencil sharpner then an American engineer out of a 4 liter engine.

And on that bombshell it’s time to say bye bye USA

  18. Daedelus July 26th, 2006 7:08 am

The fact that Tristan or Shelley don’t say anything about their mistake (Weaponboat, BMW etc) shows how unable they are to concede that they are wrong. They won’t change the article to keep fooling them who don’t know better

  19. name July 26th, 2006 7:12 am

Why bother? Buy a bike and stop being so lazy. If God had intended you to drive everywhere he would have given you 4 wheels and a V8 Kompressor.

  20. mes July 26th, 2006 7:13 am

Great article, Shelley! And, as always, thourough checking of history and facts!

But I have to agree with Tristan: What about those ridiculous Japanese toy cars? After all, non-patriotic liberals import them just as happily as they do with poor European cars.
And don’t forget, it was THEM who organized the world-wide anti-American rally also known as the “Tokyo Protocol”, which specifically aimed at crippling the American automobile industrie! Those nissans, toyotas and mitsubishis sure deserve to be crushed by a mighty American Hummer.

  21. A Parisian July 26th, 2006 7:45 am

last time an US constructor took part in Formula 1 World whampionships, it was Ford in 1994 with the team Benetton, they were second.
Last time, an US constructor won Constructors Championship, it was Ford with the engine Ford Cosworth DFV in 1981, but this year almost all the teams had this engine (it was the same during the 70s but Ferrari won during the greater part of this decade).

If US car companies were so great, why do they not participate to the formula One World championships, nowadays?

    *Muhahaha*
1.) most American cars are fugly and filthy gas-guzzlers. Period.
2.) BMW = Bayrische Motorenwerke, first produced aircarft engines only. The white and blue (Bavarian colors) checkered disk symbolizes an airscrew in motion. Then came their beautiful Bavarian cars! Got it? Btw: that model in the pic is from around 1972.
3.) Who are you calling a pinko, eh??

That’s what I think so i wasn’t gonna waste my time and read some stupid article about why i should buy american but i friend told me ishould and turned it was a complete waste of my time. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s american or not as long as i like it. More people should try this approach.

Everyone knows the British obviously invented the car just as they invented computers, the internet, airplanes, television, attractive women, etc etc

I’ve always found American cars to be extremely ugly and boxlike It seems they more belong on the set of the flintstones movie than americas shoddy arab style roads.

    Just wonderin.

  32. Count Fordula July 26th, 2006 2:10 pm

Shelley! Did you know Hitler presented Henry Ford The Grand Cross of the Order of the German Eagle (the highest honor the Reich could bestow on a foreigner)? Also:
In 1922, the New York Times reported that Henry Ford had made large financial donations to Adolf Hitler’s political campaign in Bavaria. Upton Sinclair, in his book The Flivver King, stated that Ford’s contributions had amounted to no less than $70,000. Hitler openly praised Ford and had a large portrait of him hanging in his office.

Really nice guy. Must have been very american and godly, yeah…

Thank you for posting this, Mrs. Goodman. Now it’s clear why, when I drove a VW Beetle, I was single and on probation and my only thoughts were of killing Jews, being a vegetarian, voting Democrat, and believing in evolution: all things Hitler and his Democrat Nazis did. Now that I drive an American Hummer though, I have a good Christian family with a good submissive Christian wife and my thoughts are only of glorifying the Lord by supporting His choice for President, G.W. Bush.

I’m not going to bother refuting you point for point; for one thing other well informed motor enthusiasts have already done so and secondly, I don’t feel like wasting my time educating you.

To put it bluntly: British Motor Works? The ignorance here is incalcuable, who doen’t know that BMW is from Germany, not England? Your uninformed opinion is worth less than a lump of green putty found in a fat man’s armpit.

It is because of people like you that I have started using the phrase “Projectile Stupidity.”

To all motor enthusiasts whose nations were insulted in this insipid article: on behalf of all American Petrol-Heads I appologize, we will do everything possible to track down Ms. Goodman and feed her head into a thrashing machine. Please accept this on behalf of our nation and know that Ms. Goodman speaks for no one but herself.

    Thank you.

  39. Blind_Io July 26th, 2006 5:23 pm

One other thing. Even though the H2 is everywhere, you still manage to caption a Hummer H1 as an H2.

Also you are comparing present American cars to ones built in Germany 70 years ago (Volkswagen) and falsly claiming the VW was a copy of an American design when, in fact, it was an original work designed by Porche himself. The revolutionary techniques in building the lightweight VW changed the automotive industry and spawned unibody construction of vehicles in the mass market.

Gah! No more! I can’t compete with asshattery like this. Go ferment in your delusions about our nation’s supperiority in the automotive market. Americans don’t even agree with you, this year our nation bought more import cars than domestics.

    chew on that a while.

  40. Tiemsche July 26th, 2006 5:56 pm

Once again thank you for such a well researched contribution, Shelley. Your wisdom is unlimited. I even learn things in my mother tongue. I did not know Volkswagen is translated as Weaponboat. I always thought it’s People’s Car. But if you say it is Weaponboat it must be right!

And it\’s me! Why don\’t I just [foul word deleted] off?

  50. R. V. Dump July 27th, 2006 6:18 pm

I don’t know which is funnier-the acual article or the poor benighted comments from those who just don’t get it.

  51. Ortzinator July 27th, 2006 7:51 pm

There is nothing wrong with importing cars, it’s called a FREE MARKET ECONOMY! Of all people a REPUBLICAN should know that.

  52. Anonymous July 28th, 2006 5:23 am

the ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?Volkswagen Alhambra?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?. This car is almost 100% identical with the American ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?Ford Galaxy?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?.

Yes, because these two car are copy of the “Espace” by Renaud.

PS:why are you comparing american new cars with ooooooooooooooooold european cars?

  53. ahaahahah July 28th, 2006 8:49 am

    cause american cars suck!
    german cars 4 tw!

  54. mpower830 July 28th, 2006 12:44 pm

That is probably the most incorrect thing ever written. Seriously, were you trying to make a joke? There’s so much to correct you on, I don’t even know where to begin. I’d be happy to educate you if you’d like, but don’t go making outlandish claims that you obviously have not done the research to backup. You look like a fool.

  55. ambientFLIER July 28th, 2006 12:46 pm

Wow, this is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. American cars are considered reliable and europeans considered unreliable and unsafe? WOW! I guess that’s why american cars dominate the quality charts…no wait, Honda and Toyota do. Yeah, I guess BMW just keeps struggling to build a good car, even though they are the standard of excellence in the automotive industry. Yeah, European cars are terrible…that’s why every american manufacturer aspires to build cars like them, and advertises as having “european” quality”. A Hummer H1 is america at its best? Well, that’s about right. Less than 10 mpg and about as big as a bus…that describes a lot of gas-wasting american cars today.

  56. Proud german July 28th, 2006 1:05 pm

Yep. I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•d anyday prefer a good VW or BMW over those rusty buckets most american car manufacturers are producing, like i prefer german beer over that stuff the americans actually call “beer”.

    Some mistakes Shelley:

    It?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s a H1 in the picture, not a H2.

Volkswagen means “car of the people”, not weaponboat. Period.

BMW is Bavarian Motor Works, not British Motor Works. (Located in Munich, one of the most beautiful citys in the world!)

The car is actually a invention of french and german engineers like Mr. Otto, the introducer of the modern gasoline engine, also called “Otto-engine”.

The european cars you are showing are all at least 25 years old. Why aren?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t you showing modern cars? Afraid that they could look better than those american boxes on wheels?

The Phaeton and the Galaxy are actually the same car, only with different interior and engine as VW and Ford developed those cars together.

Another proof of your ignorance, your racism and your pure dumbness, Shelley. I congratulate you. You?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•re now officially the No. 1 of the dumbest people in the world. (Sadly there?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s no award for it.)

    MfG

a german. (Not a nazi, not a rascist and not hating america)

  57. Matt S July 28th, 2006 7:59 pm

As an American (and not a pinko Commie liberal pervert), I must say the inaccuracy in this blog is appalling. American cars have stopped being innovative since the Nixon administration and have been playing catch-up ever since. BMW (BAVARIAN Motor Works, not BRITISH) is a German company and produces some of the best-performing sports sedans and coupes in the world. They are not nearly as reliable as their Japanese counterparts, but are far more reliable and have much better quality than any American sport sedan. Have you looked at Lincoln or Buick? Lincoln’s offerings consist purely of rebadged Fords, and Buick is almost as bad. Cadillac at least isn’t losing money at least, but their cars have a serious quality gap that separates them from their foreign counterparts in all areas. That’s why BMW is in the top 3 luxury brands with Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. Even JD Power has confirmed for many years that Japanese cars have much better quality than American cars.

And I’m glad you’re such a fan of the Chrysler Firepower. The rear is a bit derivative of Aston Martin’s offerings, but overall it’ll be a nice car ONCE IT ACTUALLY HITS DEALERSHIPS. Did I mention that Daimler-Chrysler AG and Mercedes-Benz (a German company, if you didn’t know) actually share lots of parts and even vehicle platforms? Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

In short, if you know absolutely nothing about modern cars or their history, you should probably refrain from writing about them and stick to spewing Republican blowhard generalizations for your single-digit audience.

  58. Smoked Kippers July 28th, 2006 8:57 pm

Idiot, BMW is Bavarian Motor Works. Now quit proving that your research is poor and unreliable.

  59. ambientFLIER July 29th, 2006 1:36 pm

I feel so stupid for replying to this. It’s just a joke.

  60. Brains July 29th, 2006 5:09 pm

You bunch of stupid fucking idiots

  61. TriggerHappyJim July 29th, 2006 6:54 pm

    The Hummer H2:

    Slow
    Fat
    Unnecessary
    Utter fucking waste of resources

Truly, American engineering at its most stereotypical.

All good cars are 30 years old. America made kickass muscle cars for twenty years, and then all the originality fell off the coast and ended up in Europe.

My favourite: The 1970 Buick GSX currently residing on my T-shirt.

I cannot believe that anyone could be this mentally retarded and still be capable of actually using a computer. Thanks to you the world is a stupider place in which to live.
I am seriously considering taking a flight from Australia out to your headquarters just to open hand slap the living shit out of your god fearing arse.

  63. Chris July 31st, 2006 8:15 pm

I feel sorry for all of you out there who actually took this whole article seriously–brilliantly done piece of work!

On a side note: I’d rather drive my Civic than any other Jap, US, or Euro car out there. Cheap, light, damn crazy reliable and very good power (I got the Si). All of those are things that automakers here in the US are still catching up on, but are doing a whole heckuva lot better.

  64. Nish August 1st, 2006 8:08 am

    ITS A PARODY!

  65. SweRocks August 1st, 2006 4:30 pm

“Chrysler Firepower” - what kind of ridiculous crap is that?

Here is a real power car:
    http://www.koenigsegg.com/

    - Previous world record holder as the fastest serial produced sports car in the world. For now, second fastest, after Bugatti started the production of ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?Veyron?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?.
    - Speed: 245+ mph / 395+ km/h (Veyron does 253 mph / 407 km/h).
    - Biggest ever ticket issued in Texas? That?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s 242mph in a Koenigsegg
    - Is holder of the track record in the UK car show ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?Top Gear?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?.
    - And the car is SWEDISH! :-)

    oh, now I already added…
funny site, keep up, I love comedy

  68. addin August 6th, 2006 4:23 pm

what do you say to a good old european porsche, ferrari or maserati?

they got a ‘little’ more power and prestige than any american crap

  69. A guy between continents August 14th, 2006 12:16 pm

I like you Shelley, you show the rest of the world what’s really wrong with the US. Nothing as imformative on your culture has ever been said out loud by one of your own.

One thing cought my eye more than anything in the countless reply’s to this article and it’s this: “From this month, the Smart will be available to the American people, starting in NYC ”

How the hell are you supposed to fit the average yankie into a Smart Citycar without 10gal of vaseline and a stainless steel shoehorn ????

  70. democ- rat not a rat August 21st, 2006 1:25 pm

Get some knowledge before you write something like that. You say Smart is popular in poor Eastern Europe? :) :) :) What a funny sh*t :)
No my darling, it`s small (only 2,5 meters) but also very expensive toy (for its size) and for that price you could buy a “real” brand new car. You won`t find it in Ukraine or Estonia. More of them are in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium or Germany.

Citroen is really ugly, but it`s safer than you could suspect. I bet yoy`ve never seen a crash test of this little frog, did you? It`s even safer than the Beetle.

  71. Oberst August 31st, 2006 6:38 pm

Does somebody believe these things here? This page is a fake to show all american racists how stupid they are. But some gut Ideas i read: The Car is an american Invention, *lol*. In the past 20 Years has an american company not 5 good car Models invented. With a Volkswagen Passat you can drive 1340 km (more than 830 Miles) without refill gasoline. for all Interesstet americans: BMW means: Bayrische Motoren Werke in English Bavarian Engine Faktory. I love german cars.

  72. Jake September 8th, 2006 4:30 am

And in one fell swoop, it is once again proven that 99.9% of Americans have no appreciation of the concept of irony.

Do yourselves a favour, chaps - don’t follow the example of your illustrious leader, and engage brain before speaking, rather than after…

  73. John October 7th, 2006 12:11 pm

BMW is not British motor workks but bayerish motor werke ( german)
MCC Smart is not a car for the poor, is better for nature!

  74. phil October 30th, 2006 12:07 am

    dear shelley,

my belief is that the delorean is the greatest car of all time. it was designed by an american, built in scotland and used a french/swedish engine. plus it predates any car ever made since it can travel trough fucking time! beat that you cum cocktail smart car!

  75. Shelley Goodman November 7th, 2006 5:37 pm

Okay, I have no idea about cars, so WHAT NOW!? Go hang yourself, I’m always right, you guys make me sick!

  76. LOL-O-Matic November 7th, 2006 5:41 pm
  77. george November 18th, 2006 7:32 pm

This is without doubt the most spectacularly stupid piece of writing I have ever read. Are you stupid or just uninformed on the knowledge of cars?
So american cars are the best in terms of safety and technology eh? So this would be why the Chrysler voyager got one of the worst crash test results ever seen in NCAP, depite being the size of a house. And cars like the Renault Laguna, megane, clio, espace, modus, scenic, vel-satis all got 5 stars must just be a fluke according to you? Not to mention some Volvo, saab, audi,VW, bmw and mercedes benz models getting 5 stars too. In fact no american car has got 5 stars over here, unless you take into account the mk2 ford focus, which you guessed it - was designed right here in blighty.
Oh and american cars luxerious eh? Giant cupholders, fake plastic wood interiors and enough warning alarms and buzzers to drive you mad. hmmmm I think I would take a Jaguar (pronounced Jag-u-war NOT jag-wire as I have heard some yanks pronounce it) or the best (and original) luxury off roader - the Range Rover.
I’m sure some simple minded soul will spew crude remarks back at me, saying that biggest is best and its the american way, but the fact is european and japenese cars are more reliable, safer, faster, more agile, and better looking than most american cars.

DO PROPER RESEARCH BEFORE CRAPPY ARTICALS!!

  78. Benny January 4th, 2007 10:16 pm

“Why are American importing foreign cars? My answer is: No American does. Only liberal democ-rats do. And democ-rats are not Americans.”

I work at “Daimler Crysler” here in germany, and we deliver more cars in the USA as in the other world altogether! Nearly 25% of Americans drive with Mercedes cars, and about 65% prefer driving with not american cars!

  79. Shelley January 5th, 2007 12:19 am

Benny, sorry but you are stupid… You actually claim that 25% of all American drive Mercedes? That is not even worth a response.

  80. Shelley January 5th, 2007 12:19 am

By the way. Daimler Chrysler is an American company. Idiot!

  81. lololol February 1st, 2007 9:33 pm

Shelley is an archetypical example of an American retard. You better go and get some education and a university degree, maybe a degree in science, history and economy and you will realize that everything you wrote is nothing but trash. You are a shame for America. And every American who is professional and an expert will laugh at you saying European cars are unsafe. I tell you something:
Eurocars are safer than any ugly American trash. Americars are cheap and ugly. Whenever an American wants a premium car he gets a BMW, a Mercedes, a Maybach, Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, Lamorgini, Isdera, Italdesign Shigera, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, Bentley, Lotus Espirit, Porsche, Audi, VeeDub, McLaren and he will not even think about buying ugly Fords, Chevrolets and Cadillacs. But I know you cannot understand this cuz ur white trash living in a trailer park. You cant afford a $800,000.00 Isdera or a $600,000 Maybach. So shut the fuck up u scumbag.

  82. lololol February 1st, 2007 9:35 pm

    lol at DaimlerChrysler is American.

LMAO ROFL OMG ur so stupid. Get some fcuking education and try to read the Wallstreet Journal or something like that.

Mercedes Benz is German. Daimler is German. Chrysler is American. Daimler merged with Chrysler and the majority of the equity belongs to Daimler so the majority of DaimlerChrysler is German. Get it straight u simple-minded whore.

  83. lololol February 1st, 2007 9:55 pm

  85. Omega March 16th, 2007 11:04 am

For quite some time, I’ve been defending americans here in Europe. Seems like I’ll have to review my point of view.
Your car industry is indeed that brilliant - maybe that’s why they’ve been beaten by bloody Toyota?

Listen up dude, if you’re making a point of view, at least, get some knowledge about it.

I can only hope for the editor that this piece of art was irony. British motorworks, for heaven’s sake…

  86. Monkey Balls March 29th, 2007 4:21 pm
