A beautiful, beautiful poem for Christmas

A patriot sent me this beautiful poem written by one of our brave soldiers. I thought we could all benefit from some of his wisdom this Christmas.

A Soldier’s Christmas
‘Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
in a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.I had come down the chimney with presents to give,
and to see just who in this home did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.

No stockings by mantle, just boots filled with sand,
on the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
A sober thought came through my mind.

For this house was different, it was dark and dreary,
I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone,
curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder,
not how I pictured a United States Solider.

Was this the hero of whom I’d just read?
curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?
I realized the families that I saw this night,
owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world, the children would plan,
and grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas Day.
They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year,
because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.

The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice,
Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice.
I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more,
my life is my God, my country, my corps.

The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep,
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours, so silent and still
and we both shivered from the cold night’s chill.

I didn’t want to leave on that cold, dark night,
this Guardian of Honor, so willing to fight.
Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure,
whispered, carry on Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all is secure.

One look at my watch. and I knew he was right.
Merry Christmas my friend, and to all a good night.

This poem was written by By Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt back in 1986.

I want to know, what do the Muslim killers think when they read this? How much hate must they have in their hearts to murder such heroes?

Only God can answer that.

ds_santa_claus.jpg
Muslims! Our warriors are ready for you every single day of the year. Don’t think you can mess. Even on Christmas Day!
For my part, I think it’s a beautiful piece and am deeply moved by it. If the Nobel Prize for Literature committee wasn’t run by a cabal of European liberals, Major Schmidt would have been sure to win it. As it is, Liberals no doubt condemn his beautiful heartfelt message as sentimental pap. But what do they know about true art? Liberals only think it’s art if no one can comprehend it. But here at STR.com, we are glad to be able to understand what Major Schmidt is saying and we salute him. His words have gotten right to the heart of our Warriors’ service and sacrifice against any enemy and said it better than any of us ever could.

Merry Christmas!

Sam Johnston

    How much hate must they have in their hearts to murder such heroes?

    Only God can answer that.

    Enough, that’s how much. Guess what? I answered “that”, either I’m God or you’re wrong.

    Still taking the drivel tablets, eh, Sam? How’s the Unit, these days?

    “This poem was written by By Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt back in 1986.”

    “we are glad to be able to understand what Major Schmidt is saying” A rapid promotion, then?

    “As it is, Liberals no doubt condemn his beautiful heartfelt message as sentimental pap.” Yes.

    “If the Nobel Prize for Literature committee wasn?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t run by a kabal of European liberals, Major Schmidt would have been sure to win it.” Unlikely, methinks. You seem to have as good an understanding of literature as Tristan does of computers.

    “Don?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t think you can mess.” I think current events in the Middle East prove that people can ‘mess’.

    I find these attacks on the brave men out in Iraq fighting for freedom gravely insulting. Would you talk like this to their faimilies? Liberals have no respect.

    Oh. My. God. I didn’t know disgusting rednecks like you *actually* existed until this very moment. You are completely insane and you completely disgust me. I feel so sorry for the people that have to deal with you all day.

    I feel sorry for you for damning yourself to hell Brittany.

    What is disgusting about supporting our brave warriors?

    I’ll be praying for you.

    Please, read the comment. I don’t believe I said I didn’t support the people there - my dad was in the military for many years. However, I certainly don’t support anything theyre fighting for. And I am especially appaled by ignorant people like yourself.

    There you go again, Brittany. There you go again! (I love quoting Regan! What a great American!) You say in one sentence that you support them and then in the next you start attacking them. Why do democrats always attack our troops. They’re fighting for God and for freedom and for America and for peace. What’s wrong with that?

    And, typical of all brainless liberal pinko saps, I see you’ve resorted to an ad hominem attack in your last sentence. Shame on you.

    Eventhough the poem is fine, rhymes and all, but I wouldn’t award it with the Nobel Prize (you may now attack me ad hominem, Sam, since I’m a European :)). Why? Simple :) It’s stereotype driven, lacks anything new or inventive.

    To make myself absolutely clear: the poem itself is fine. The theme of the poem is fine. I just stated it’s not a Nobel Prize material by any account.

    Written on 1986, so before “Desert Storm”, 11th September, Afghanistan or O.I.L. (Operation Iraqi Liberty). So it doesn’t actually depict any hero that is fighting the Muslims, right? :)

    I also believe that an army that invades another country on its whim and greed alone has no right to call the invading soldiers ‘heroes’. 11th September has been an inside job, creating the crisis that powermongers in US of A needed to get more power.

    The United States of America don’t invade countries just because we feel like it. We do it to keep America safe from terrorists whose religion is death. The world benefits from President Bush’s heroic efforts to end terrorism in our time. But once he succeeds I bet not one of you liberals is gonna say thank you. Not one.

    Y’all make me sick.

    well that?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s just the problem, Bush will never succeed…
    He is creating more and more terrorists, and his bloodlust is increasingly making the world less and less safe…

    Here is a more realistic one:

    Soldier Side

    Dead men lying on the bottom of the grave
    Wondering when Savior comes
    Is he gonna be saved
    Maybe you’re a sinner into your alternate life
    Maybe you’re a joker, maybe you deserve to die

    They were crying when their sons left
    God is wearing black
    He’s gone so far to find no hope
    He’s never coming back

    They were crying when their sons left
    All young men must go
    He’s come so far to find the truth
    He’s never going home

    Young men standing on the top of their own graves
    Wondering when Jesus comes
    Are they gonna be saved
    Cruelty to the winner, Bishop tells the King his lies
    Maybe you’re a mourner, maybe you deserve to die

    They were crying when their sons left
    God is wearing black
    He’s gone so far to find no hope
    He’s never coming back

    They were crying when their sons left
    All young men must go
    He’s come so far to find no truth
    He’s never going home

    Welcome to the Soldier Side
    Where there’s no one here but me
    People all grow up to die
    There is no one here but me

    Welcome to the Soldier Side
    Where there’s no one here but me
    People on the soldier’s side
    There is no one here but me

    BBN, Sam, Tristan et al…read the news, preferably something unbiased…you are not ‘winning’ in Iraq, it is a complete disaster. It has destablised the Middle East and will cause problems for the whole world for years to come. Even the British, your lickspittle allies are trying to distance themselves from this fiasco.

    By the way, if Regan was a great American, who was he? Or could it be Ronald Reagan, note correct spelling - as usual, it takes a European to put you straight.

    Nice poem and all, but I have to say one thing:

    Muslims! Our warriors are ready for you every single day of the year. Don?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t think you can mess. Even on Christmas Day!

    Is no one aware that these terrorist haters DO NOT in any way represent the true spirit of Islam? Muslims, as a general society, set out to do good things. Not blow themselves up, wreck havoc on other people, etc.

    Anyways, America isn’t in the Middle East to destroy it. We’re there to do good… it’s just not turning out too well.

    And about Bush… he’s not my favorite president. But I’ll leave it at that.

    Written in 1986. Good times. Back then, your army were really the good guys (at least better than now).

    But sorry, the Nobel Prize needs something new, not old stereotypes.

    ds_santa_claus.jpg

    Muslims! Our warriors are ready for you every single day of the year. Don?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t think you can mess. Even on Christmas Day!

    Errm… That guy is wearing an american uniform and toting around what looks like an M60! He?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s an american!

    I want to know, what do the muslim killers think when they read this? How much hate must they have in their hearts to murder such heroes?

    Imagine some idiots coming into your country bombing your family into oblivion and stating it as “collateral damage”. Then you know.

    I find these attacks on the brave men out in Iraq fighting for freedom gravely insulting. Would you talk like this to their faimilies? Liberals have no respect.

    Sam, someone has to say the truth. And the truth is: Iraq is worse than ever. Almost 1000 attacks per month now. And for what? Till now it only looks like you totally destabilised the country.

    And Sam, telling people that they go to hell is insulting and inefficient. Cause they know that actually you are the one going downstairs. And she supports the troops. Just not what some idiots told the troops to do.

    The United States of America don?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t invade countries just because we feel like it.

    Yeah. Like Iraq, Vietnam and co….

    We do it to keep America safe from terrorists whose religion is death.

    Let out the religion. Put in “we want the oil”. There you go.

    The world benefits from President Bush?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s heroic efforts to end terrorism in our time.

    ROFL! Only Bush and his cronies profit from that disaster.

    But once he succeeds I bet not one of you liberals is gonna say thank you. Not one.

    Cause they caused an even bigger mess with this success.

    @ True Christian: Good poem.

    I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•ve got something, too:

    Battle Hymn of the Republicans
    (to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic)

    Mine Eyes have seen the bungling of that stumbling moron Bush;
    He has blathered all the drivel that the neo-cons can push;
    He has lost sight of all reason ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥cause his head is up his tush;
    The Doofus marches on.

    I have heard him butcher syntax like a kindergarten fool;
    There is warranted suspicion that he never went to school;
    Should we fault him for the policies ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?É¬Æ or is he just their tool?
    The lies keep piling on.

    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    His wreckage will live on.

    I have seen him cut the taxes of the billionaires?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ lone heir;
    As he spends another zillion on an aircraft carrier;
    Let the smokestacks keep polluting ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?É¬Æ do we really need clean air?
    The surplus is now gone.

    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Your safety net is gone!

    Now he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s got a mighty hankerin?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ to bomb a prostrate state;
    Though the whole world knows its crazy ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?É¬Æ and the U.N. says to wait;
    When he doesn?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t have the evidence, ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?We must prevaricate.?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?
    Diplomacy is done!

    Oh, a trumped-up war is excellent; we have no moral bounds;
    Should the reasons be disputed, we?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll just make up other grounds;
    Enraging several billions ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?É¬Æ to his brainlessness redounds;
    The Doofus marches on!

    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    Glory! Glory! How he?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ll Screw Ya?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥!
    THIS?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?Ǭ?DOO?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?Ǭ?FUS?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?Ǭ?MAR?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?Ǭ?CHES?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?Ǭ?ON

    The following article tells it like it is on how politicians & military officers really feel about enlisted men & women! It’s called “Addendum to Clausewitz” by Fred Reed: http://www.lewrockwell.com/reed/reed16.html Officers think enlisted men are unworthy to date their daughters! Politicians think of enlisted men as cannon fodder & those politicians(Republican & Democrat alike) want to silence the soldiers from telling the truth publicly if the war is going badly!
