Blasphemy

A Christian reader of STR.com alerted to me that a terrible Atheist craze that is sweeping this nation. These evil blashphemers, deprived as they are of a moral compass, have been trying to co-opt Our Lord and Savior into a gay disco routine.

The three on the right have just earned themselves a place in hell.

Shame on them! It’s disgusting! I personally find such actions deeply offensive, and I’m sure that my fellow Christians across America share my anger.

Do we need to have armed guards around every picture and image of the Greatest Man That Ever Lived now? Is this what America has come to just weeks into the new Satanic reign of terror that is the Democratic Congress?

I urge all readers of STR.com to protest the Democrats for allowing these things to happen and, should you spot these desecrators, to urge them to stop. By any means necessary!

I would write more, but I’m just too mad right now.

God be with you,

Sam Johnston

This is why George W. Bush called for a national religious freedom day, to stop atheists like these people taking our LORD in vain. Why do they mock the passion of Jesus?

“This is why George W. Bush called for a national religious freedom day, to stop atheists like these people taking our LORD in vain.”

Umm…if religious freedom is to be tolerated for a day, shouldn’t that also include tolerance for those that choose not to be involved in any religion at all?

  3. Gregor Samsa January 18th, 2007 4:25 am

That’s the funniest picture I’ve seen in a long time.

  4. Marc January 18th, 2007 5:26 am

Tristan, because it’s their religious freedom to consider that funny :)

  5. Albert January 18th, 2007 5:54 am

you call this a freedom blog. don’t atheists have the freedom to spread their word? as you should have the freedom to spread your word?
    this is just pathetic.

I just wanted to say I thoroughly respect ALL religions but I hate the Church as an institution. I admire christianity as a religion and I think that the posted picture is a funny thing to see and anybody that thinks that acting like that in front of a picture of Jesus gives you a one way ticket to hell is a complete and utter moron. Jesus said that all men and women are equal in God’s eyes so why shouldn’t these three be? Anyway, one more thing: I fucking hate fanatics! It’s fanatics that make this world a bad place to live in. Muslim fanatics that use Koran as an excuse to have a ‘holy’ (holy MY ASS) war againt the rest of the world and christians that think they’re the only ones right. I never would want to have anything to do with a religion that is responisble for the deaths of hundreds and thousands of innocent people. And anyone that’s trying to convince me that HIS religion is the ONLY true one will end up with a shoe his ass. All religions originate from India and if you check thoroughly without your EGO diving you, you can see that the baseto allr eligions is the same. Identical. I have no intention on insulting people that believe in God with their whole heart; such people should be respected and rewarded - and they are. They are given the best gift one cold possibly get and they get it from God himself. But people that kill animals, act like morons and don’t follow the 10 commandments but think that going to church every Sunday gets you to heaven are nothng but imposters ad fanatics. Anyone wants to talk to me you can see my mail in this comment.

I also encourage the admin of this site to leave this comment intact if you have what it takes. If you’re a coward and wish that only comments of people that support your opinions are displayed, than go ahead and delete my comment. I only have one person to explain myself to: God, and that goes for all of us.

EXACTLY RELIGOUS FREEDOM DAY, To celebrate freedom of religion, meaning which ever religion you damned well want.

And anyway Sam, it’s funny, and it’s a good song. You shouldn’t udnerstand this picture, becuase you shouldn’t be listening to “Satanic” music…

Rofl armed guards at every picture of jesus? hmm sure, thats about 20 dollars an hour (US), so about 300 Dollars a day, and about 2100 a week, so u’ll be paying over 1 day alone proberly 300,000 us dolalrs out, and over a week, about 2,100,000 us dollars out, well u can pay that Sam, cuz i’m sure that USA tax payers don’t want to pay tax for that stupid idea. Oh and btw thats only for the paintings, to have around every image and all that, ur looking way way into the billions, maybe even trillions, a week. also, there’s not enough people in the us for that…

These folks are not ridiculing Jesus, they are ridiculing this kitschy depiction of the crucifixion. Believe me, there were no transcendent, sublime moments on the cross, just vicious, bloody cruelty. Transcendence, if you believe the text of the bible, came three days later.

Kitsch is the language and art of authoritarianism, and its natural enemy is camp. From what I see, camp wins every time.

G-d is not being ridiculed here, but some Christians are. Well done, boys.

Wow, I guess those guys didn?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t knew what reaction they would spawn with a simple joke. And it?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s even funnier than your Friday Funnies!

Religious Freedom = You can choose your own opinion about religions. Please, try to get this into your brain.

@Believer: AMEN! Fanatics are the worst people that exist. Has ever been so, will ever be so.

  14. Godless french January 18th, 2007 4:01 pm

    YMCA
It stands for “young men christian association”.
So how come they are ridiculing this picture of the Christ doing things related to christianity?

  15. Atheist God January 18th, 2007 9:38 pm

hmm good point godless french, maybe because they don’t bother to do their research, and are a pack of morrons?

  16. Helmet January 18th, 2007 11:07 pm

I do think it’s kind of funny and it’s even more funny that you guys can say that people will go to hell or not, you act like you are god, luckily for us, you are not!

  17. Henry Crun January 19th, 2007 4:11 am

I am beginning to think that this site is a parody. The picture of the pranksters above is hardly offensive. Suggesting that armed guards be deployed to guard such images is completely loopy. If the site is a parody, then well done … but if it isn’t a parody, I suggest that Shelley the Republican check into a psychiatric facility ASAP.

  18. Elendil January 19th, 2007 2:42 pm

That picture is actually funny… funnier than the usual attempts at mock-up that are usually present here.

I completely agree with Godless French, good and valid point there.

You consider a painting holy? That’s idolatry!

  20. [...] There are some great pics on this blog — like the one found here (that one’s definitely going on my wall) — and you should definitely check the Atheist Conspiracies section, as well as the great War on Terror section. [...]

Where is Jesus’ giant boner in this painting?? You call that passion? Anyone who gets off on being sacrificed like that ought to have a giant erection!

  22. W. Joel Brooks January 22nd, 2007 4:29 pm

It could, perhaps, be a bit funnier if a severed of John the Baptist could somehow be superimposed after each letter like a period . . . .

  28. Mandi May 18th, 2007 5:06 pm

Your opinion of atheism both frightens and disgusts me. Being an atheist myself, I am appalled by your conviction that we have “no moral compass”. My dear, I have morals. I believe in love and hope and magic and wonder and that people are entitled to their own beliefs. The fact that you put down MY “religion” is disgusting and most unChristian of you. I was Christian once, and I know what I am talking about. Just because I don’t believe what you believe doesn’t mean I am “evil”, “immoral”, or “misguided”. You, my friend, are the terribly misguided one here, and I shudder to think of what “Saint Peter” will say when you die and go to those pearly gates. Will he let you in, even though you have lived your life in the name of “Jesus”, but spoke vile hatespeech against a million others? Or will your Lord forgive you simply because you’re Christian, and that makes it okay for you to utter such injustices against my beliefs and the beliefs of so many others?

May you find some words to guide you more truly in the Bible,
    Mandi

  29. BPKM May 22nd, 2007 4:35 pm

One again, thank god that aetheism and religious tolerance are starting to take hold. Soon there won’t be enough of you people to fuel conflicts and inspire hate towards those who differ from you.
