Kent Hovind, Another martyr in America’s culture war against rampant secularism

Friends, I want to thank each and every one of the STR Prayer team who asked God to save our dear friend Kent Hovind from the evil of the liberal dominated courts who wish to prevent him from spreading the gospel; unfortunately our prayers came too late to save dear Kent who will soon begin an unprecedented and entirely unfair ten year prison sentence. Kent’s only been sentenced for a day or so, and already we can see the liberal attack-dogs congratulating themselves for bringing this great man down. They are already plotting who their next victim will be… could it be another patriot like Pat Robertson? Could it be Shelley, me or even you? Perhaps they will target your children because they remember to say their prayers? Who knows what drives the liberal mind to such extraordinary vengeance.

p1010006.jpg

Kent and his wife lived a life of humble poverty, dedicated to following Jesus’ example. Kent and Jo never drew a salary for their good work, and lived at the charity of the Creation Science Evangelism group. Why are these poor preachers being persecuted for tax evasion?

So the activist liberal judge says that Pastor Hovind owes the US Government a great deal of money - but did they count all the good he had done? Did they count the souls he helped save, and the kids he educated? Every single child who passes through Dinosaur Adventure Land gets to learn about how neo-Darwinism is a lie - would they have learnt that important message had Kent not done his best? Did they count the fact that he works for Jesus, the person who founded the USA, a higher authority than even the President? I put it to you that it is not Kent who owes the IRS, but the US government who owes Kent. But hold on a minute - didn’t the Bible say that holy people would be tested? Kent is yet another martyr for Jesus, willing to go to prison to stand up for what he thinks is right. I just know that God has a plan for him, and if that means he has to do ten years in a prison I am sure that Kent will face up to that plan with his usual dignity and moral courage. Heck, he might even get to teach some of his fellow prisoners about the exciting science of Intelligent Design - perhaps that is what God wants?

irs.jpg
A tearful Hovind had hoped to avoid prison, telling the court, “If it’s just money the IRS wants, there are thousands of people out there who will help pay the money they want so I can go back out there and preach”. How can an American court doubt the word of a true Christian? Do they not know that our legal system is based on Christianity?

I’m delighted to announce, that this month’s charity will be the “Save Kent Hovind Fund”, we are going to get together and help pay off his tax bill. The sooner we get this great man out of jail, the sooner America will hear him preach the Gospel again. In the meantime, we would all draw courage from the wise words of Romans 8:31-39, words which I know will be comforting our dear friend at this very moment.

Finally, we at STR.com would like to an ounce a new petition which will be starting next week. We are going to ask for an official presidential pardon for Kent Hovind. Please add your prayers and other words of support for Kent below.

Yours in Christ,

Tristan J. Shuddery

This is a very good way of explaining the general plight of humanity…

This man is clearly in the wrong if he has been evading taxes; therefore he is punished - justice is done. STR argues that the ‘good’ he has done should cancel out the bad. Unfortunately, the Universe doesn’t function in this way. The crime is against the IRS, so Hovind must settle the issue with them.

Humans have turned their backs on God; therefore we are punished - justice is done. Many people argue that by doing ‘good’ they can get into God’s good books. However, God doesn’t work like that. The crime is against Him, and so we must turn back to Him if we are to be forgiven.

The parallel falls down at this point, because God took the initiative and did what was necessary to bring us back to Him, in the form of coming to Earth Himself and dying in place of us, which I doubt the IRS will emulate.

The fact is, Christianity is all about GRACE, which is when we get what we don’t deserve - ie: a way back to a loving relationship with God.

Do you understand the concept of grace, STR?

Not the liberals brought Kent down, his own stupidness did. Honestly, if anyone would be stupid enough to follow his argumentation, then no one would be required anymore to pay any taxes. Hey, Shelley, why don?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t you ask your beloved president what he thinks of abolishing all taxes?

Kent and his wife lived a life of humble poverty, dedicated to following Jesus?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥ example. Kent and Jo never drew a salary for their good work, and lived at the charity of the Creation Science Evangalism group. Why are these poor preachers being persecuted for tax evasion?

Then how the hell comes it that that couple has stored away enough money to easily buy their own little island?

So the activist liberal judge says that Pastor Hovind owes the US Government a great deal of money - but did they count all the good he had done? Did they count the souls he helped save, and the kids he educated?

You know, those things don?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t matter. Or should we begin to count up what people like Tomothy McVeigh or Ted Bundy have done good for the USA? Should we bring up the Nuremberg Trials agin and bring up what the Nazis did good for my country?

Kent is yet another martyr for Jesus, willing to go to prison to stand up for what he thinks is right.

Funny thing is that even ID followers think that he?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s a lunatic.

PS: I can?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t find Jesus sign on the declaration of Independence right now. So where did he found the USA? Especially as he has been dead a long time since…

How can an American court doubt the word of a true Christian? Do they not know that our legal system is based on Christianity?

    1. How do they know he is a real christian and not just pretending?
    2. Even then, he was proven to have committed a crime. FACT.
    3. Where does it state right now, that your legal (secular!) system is based on christianity? Could you show me that text?

Well, a charity won?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t work here. He has been sentenced 10 years and will rot in that cell for 10 years. And Georgie won?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t do shit about it cause it would further damage his image and make it even more probable that the republicans lose the next election. (Ok, they?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•re going to loose it anyway. :))

PS: I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•m sure that none of my questions will be answered as the STR-Crew won?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t give in that they have no suitable answer.

And another good one about Iraq:

America Cannot Win the War in Iraq

    Introduction

On May 10th, 2003, less than two months after the first combat units rumbled across the Kuwaiti border into Iraq, President George W. Bush dawned a flight suite and delivered a speech from the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. In this now infamous speech, later dubbed the ‘Mission Accomplished’ speech, the beaming Commander-in-Chief proclaimed a halt to major combat operations in Iraq. America and its peace meal coalition had succeeded in toppling the notorious Saddam regime. For the moment, the world breathed a sigh of relief, seemingly casting aside all pre-war doubts regarding flimsy intelligence and weak rationale for an invasion. Maybe preemptive war IS tolerable. After all, the world now had one less dictator to stomach.

Three and a half years after this speech, optimism has given way to pessimism. And for good reason. The situation in Iraq is deteriorating, maybe even spiraling out of control towards all out civil war. The insurgency movement in Iraq is growing, making nation building on the part of America and its allies ineffective. The U.S. military finds itself stretched excessively thin, with many members serving unprecedented two and three tours of duty in Iraq. Casualty counts, both civilian and military, are on the rise and expensive, but delicate, military hardware is grinding to a halt under the stress of combat in such a rugged environment. America has poured vast sums of its fortune into Iraq, hoping to kick-start a new nation. On the home front and throughout the world, support for the war is waning. Moreover, in Iraq itself, the very people America purports to have liberated from Saddam Hussein now clamor for liberation from what they believe is an occupation by meddling Westerners.

In the coming months, America will have to confront some difficult choices. With the results of the 2006 general election, it is clear that American voters have already voiced their opinion that efforts in Iraq are not working. It has become clear that America cannot win the war in Iraq and it is time for a change in course.

    Historical Precedent

History may well be the best indicator when making predictions about the eventual outcome of the Iraq war. The United States historically has found exceptional difficulty in waging war against a foe which resorts to guerilla warfare and unconventional tactics, which is undeniably now the case in Iraq. No other conflict in American history illustrates this fact better than the 10 year ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?police action?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ? in Vietnam, where American conventional forces were pitted against an earlier resourceful and determined guerilla force.

America lost the war in Vietnam but it was not because the pajama-clad communist guerilla forces American service members faced in the jungles and rice paddies of Southeast Asia held all the decisive advantages. As is true today in the Middle East, American combat troops of the 1960’s and 1970’s were better equipped, better trained, and enjoyed better support than the forces they opposed on the battlefield.

During the Vietnam years, America leveraged its super power status, pouring vast portions of its ground forces, air assets, and naval might into the struggle, while the communists relied on a resilient ground force equipped with little more than a Chinese AK-47 Assault Rifle, a knowledge of their own territory, some determination, the will to win, and time-tested guerilla warfare tactics. Where Iraq is concerned, this recipe has not changed. The AK-47 carrying guerilla fighter in Iraq willingly trades archaic mortars and crude explosives and booby traps for a lack of air superiority, high troop mobility, and multi-million dollar machines of war in the hopes that history will repeat, and a global super power will be defeated.

There are several other similarities when comparing the two struggles, notably on the home front. Both conflicts have generated civil strife, amassed protests, and seen waning public support as the war progressed. Political backlash, both domestic and international, are commonalities. Finally, as the body counts rise, so does the media’s scrutiny.

On April 30, 1975, the South Vietnam capitol of Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese, ending a decade long struggle which claimed the lives of over 2 million Vietnamese and over 58 thousand Americans. In the end, a simple David, armed only with primitive tools of war, slew a modern day Goliath - a hulking beast built for war. If history is an indicator, Goliath is poised to fall once again.

    Military Limitations

Militarily speaking, the United States has consistently won all the key battles in Iraq but one has to wonder if we are not losing the war in the meantime. Many indicators point to a grand defeat. Most notably, the Pentagon appears to be struggling, both in terms of manpower and in financing the war.

National level decision makers, hoping to avoid the backlash that accompanied the Vietnam era draft, have forgone the use of conscripts, relying instead on the nation’s relatively small volunteer force. The ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?grunts?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ? of the Army and Marine Corps have been been forced to endure most of the workload in Iraq, resulting in a seemingly never-ending rotation in and out of battle. Many of these troops return home physically maimed and psychologically effected for the rest of their lives after just one deployment. The odds increase with multiple deployments, and the troops know it.

The limited number of units military tacticians have available for rotation has also resulted in a heavy reliance on part-time Reserve and National Guard personnel, with many of them being called to serve up to two years at a time. This level of demand has led to sagging troop retention and poor recruitment, forcing the Pentagon to offer costly enlistment and reenlistment bonuses, further indebting the taxpayer already footing the bill for the war in Iraq to the tune of over 350 billion dollars thus far.

In spite of all the stubborn ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?stay the course?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ? rhetoric coming from an Administration mired in stalemate, certain policies seem to be free to tinker with. In order to swell the ranks, higher educational standards and character requirements have been relaxed at recruiting stations throughout the country. In essence, the high standards of quality in our volunteer military are being compromised for the sake of quantity in hopes of ensuring a steady line of clean boots for the front. The long-term negative effects of this knee-jerk reaction will not be felt for years, but rest assured; America will have to rebuild a diluted military one day.

In another feeble attempt at plugging the holes, thousands of service members are subjected to a mandatory stop-loss program, keeping them in uniform far beyond their enlistment contract. Many view this as a ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?back door draft?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ? which hurts morale, forcing many to vote with their feet once the stop-loss order is lifted. Ironically, several Congress members have begun calling for a draft in recent months, hoping this tool of last resort will somehow prevent a complete depletion of the volunteer force.

The signs of desperation in our war machine are easy to detect. The brass in the Pentagon has been busy trying to ensure a victory in Iraq with limited options. The quick fixes and temporary bandages will hurt America’s military branches in the end while simultaneously draining the nation’s coffers. Perhaps preservation of individual careers and the influence of the politics of war are more powerful forces than the realities of war, especially for civilian and high-ranking chess players in the Pentagon who carry on their days without fear of being killed by a roadside bomb. Whatever the case, the course the Pentagon is on now will only result in prolonging the inevitable - that America cannot win militarily, in Iraq.

    Qualified Opinions

One does not have to look very hard to find qualified personalities who concede that a victory in Iraq is untenable. Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State under President Richard Nixon, recently stated during a televised interview that a military win in Iraq is impossible (Panja, 2006):

“If you mean by ‘military victory’ an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don’t believe that is possible,” he told the British Broadcasting Corp.

It should be noted that Kissinger’s tenure as Secretary of State spanned the last two years of the Vietnam Conflict, which raged from 1965 to 1975. Given his historical perspective, the point can be argued that perhaps no other living human being is more qualified to draw the conclusion that an American military solution in Iraq will not succeed.

Former foreign relations gurus are not the only ones sounding alarm bells. The current UN envoy to Iraq, Special Representative Ashraf Qazi, fears all-out civil war (Herald Sun, 2006). Citing the devastation caused by recent tandem car bombings in the Baghdad burrow of Sadr City which killed approximately 200 Iraqi civilians, he warns, ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?Iraq would continue to descend into a civil war situation and people would become the victims of an unprecedented human rights catastrophe.?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?

None of these warnings have been wasted on our service members. In fact, history will likely show that some of the first rumblings regarding America’s dire consequences in Iraq have originated from those experiencing it first-hand. While deployed to Iraq in 2004, one ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?old and seasoned Non-Commissioned Officer with nearly 20 years under [his] belt?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ? (Lorents, 2004) offered his belief in an essay that America’s preference for politics and wholesale refusal to accept the reality of the guerrilla war in Iraq runs parallel with Vietnam, and will ultimately cost us another victory.

    Conclusion

As of Sunday, November 26, 2006, America’s military involvement in the small Middle East country of Iraq has carried on longer than the U.S. engagement in World War II (Forbes, 2006), a war that spanned the entire globe. The only other war that America lost lasting longer than our WWII involvement was Vietnam -a localized guerilla war, just like Iraq. If history is an indicator, America cannot win in Iraq.

The IRS is a fraud and should be investigated! The 16th Amendment was an improperly ratified Unconstitutional sham and should be repealed! The income tax is a plank of the Communist Manifesto and should be abolished! The original Constitution authorized the collection of excise taxes, imposts and duties, nothing more! Most federal agencies are Unconstitutional and should be dismantled! The Founding Fathers were opposed to large standing armies and entangling alliances(foreign aid and government run international trade agreements) or going abroad “to seek monsters to destroy”! The Anti-federalists were for a limited republican form of government, not a Warfare/Welfare State of socialistic “democracy”! Limited government wouldn’t need income tax revenue and wouldn’t be a Nanny State or engage in endless wars for Empire!

  7. Godless french January 21st, 2007 12:25 pm

    He didn’t pay taxes…
So he didn’t give the government its money.
So this money cannot be used, for example, to found the war in Iraq
So in fact, this man didn’t support the soldiers and worse! deprives them of money to buy supplies to win the war!
    He is clearly a terrorist!

  8. Greg January 21st, 2007 2:43 pm

Yes yes, whatever is the world coming to, when fraudulent hucksters committed to Lying for Jesus aren’t allowed to cheat on their taxes, lie about their assets, and actively deceive the IRS?

  9. Pat Robertson January 21st, 2007 2:50 pm

Obviously these heathens who post these “comments” knwo nothing of which they speak. Unlike the wonderful Dr. Dino, I am weak, and made a pact with the Devil and pay my “taxes” to the corrupt Government only so that I might continue to do The Lord’s Work saving souls (for only a modest fee per soul, group discounts are available). If this nation were wise enough to revert to it’s Christian roots, then only the lower non-Christian classes would be subject to these “taxes” and we richer, more Christian classes could go about our business unfettered.

  10. True Christian January 21st, 2007 3:50 pm

This statement alone, is a perfectly clear example on, that you HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA OF, what Christianity stands for, and what it means to be a true Christian….

You know, GREED is one of the 7 deadly sins…

Just by saying that, you revealed yourself as not beeing a true christian.

Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins, you know. And IF you were a true Christian, you would favour higher taxes for the rich, in order to help those who need it more.

So who?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s the heathen here? most of the readers in here have FAR HIGHER Christian values than the STR. supporters, even those who do not believe in Our Lord….

I do pay tax to the IRS(It Really Steals)under protest because this regime operates under color of law and will send jack-booted thugs to my door to drag me off to jail for violating their fraudulent legalisms! As far as paying taxes for this war on Iraq being a “patriotic duty”,it was Unconstitutionally declared and a violation of international law, therefore a war crime! There’s nothing patriotic about invading a nation like Hitler invaded Poland, etc! Or the Soviets when they invaded Eastern Europe,Afghanistan, etc! The Founding Fathers would be against the Warfare/Welfare State and would consider it their patriotic duty to be opposed to Imperialism and socialism!

  14. Danny Ditto January 21st, 2007 5:29 pm

Anyone curious about the roots of the U.S. Separation of Church and State (which I’m sure some of readers here will call cospiritorial anti-Christian nonsense when they are the revisionists trying to recast Franklin, Adams and Washington as fundamentalist Christians) should just read article 11 of the Treaty withTripoli wherein Washington wrote the following:

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

So what’s this nonsense about Jesus founding the United States? Oh yeah. It’s a pernicious lie. You should know better than to fake facts if they aren’t on your side.

Hmm? I thought God existed outside of time. How could prayers come ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?too late?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ??

God may exist out of time, but he knows that we do not. He is punishing the whole of the USA for our lack of proactive prayer. Putting dear Kent in Jail is not punishing Kent, but punishing America. It is a punishment for the whole of America, because America did not want to listen to Kent’s message of Christ’s love.

Once again, God has seen fit to make instruments of his most lowly subjects. God is trying to teach us something - if you had your eyes open you would see it plain as day.

I put it to you that those prisoners who meet Kent may be some of the luckiest Americans alive, because in their confinment they will be granted everlasting freedom.

    Tristan

  26. P. Zachos January 23rd, 2007 1:16 pm

    Tristan,

“God may exist out of time, but he knows that we do not.” That is essentially the same statement as “We do not exist out of time, but God does”. So, I reiterate: if God exists out of time, and we KNOW he exists outside of time, how could our prayers come too late?

And if Gawd will save souls in jail through Kent Hovind, and saving souls is a good thing, how is that punishing America?

And if Gawd meant for Kent to go to jail because he has “seen fit to make instruments of his most lowly subjects”, then who the hell are you to pray AGAINST that action? The implication from your original story is that many people prayed for Kent to NOT to go prison. But if that was Gawd’s plan, why pray against it? Why not pray for God to make an instrument of his most lowly Kent and send him to prison to save souls? For that matter, why not pray for Kent to have a LONGER prison sentence so he can save more of those souls?

    paz

    Tristan writes:
Putting dear Kent in Jail is not punishing Kent, but punishing America.

I don’t know about that. People who have invisible friends should be avoided. If they actually start to break laws, quarantined, I think.

It is a punishment for the whole of America, because America did not want to listen to Kent?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s message of Christ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s love.

    Love?

Do you mean the part where god created fallible beings and then sacrificed his own son to assuage his bloodlust and anger that the beings he created failed? Or is it the part where we suffer eternal hell (whether that’s fire and brimstone or merely the absence of his presence) if we don’t love him?

With firends like him, who needs enemies?

God is trying to teach us something - if you had your eyes open you would see it plain as day.

Oh Tristan, why do you continue to deny Zeus? Your Jesus might have risen from the dead but he didn’t throw lightning bolts, a true sign that he is the one, true god.

If you would open your eyes…

Wow. I don’t know why, but I was actually surprised when I found out that this weblog supported unpatriotic tax-dodgers like Kent Hovind. If you ask me, he got what was coming to him.

In case you don’t know anything about it, there is information available here.

Just for clarification, this man is in fact a nutjob. He holds a PhD from an unaccredited school, and teaches without any kind of certification. But, then again, I suppose that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to teach ignorance in a Baptist school. All you gotta do is convince everyone in the classroom to believe in invisible people (kinda liek the tooth fairy, except doesn’t even take teeth and leave money to keep up the illusion that they might be real), and have full confidence that Jesus was the son of god, saviour of man, etc.

Have you ever heard the story of Mithras? It’s the story of a man, very much like Jesus. In fact, *exactly* like Jesus. 12 disciples, tragic death, ominous resurrection, healing the sick, the whole works. Do you know what the difference is? Mithras was worshipped 300 years before Jesus was even BORN. Go ahead, research it on your own. I’ll wait right here for you.

Oh yeah, and if you hold even a tenuous thread of faith to your heart after you research Mithras, then check out this site. You might reconsider your imaginary friend in the sky.

Oh yeah, and it really looks like Jesus did your friend Hovind a whole lot of good. Was it truly his will that he go to jail, or did he simply not give a damn that day?

If anyone ever wants some serious religious debate, e-mail me sometime, death.magicks.for.adepts@gmail.com. I’m not afraid, I’ll take all comers. But please, try to be somewhat coherent and at least a touch respectful, I don’t revel pawing through e-mails left me by people that think that their point is any more valid BECAUSE THEY TYPE LIEK THIS Z0MG!!! First, I want to thank you for your attention to the Hovind situation. I have watched nearly all of his creation depates and seminars. I also know that his ministry was his life; few could boast of such a committment.

The Hovind family lived very humbly. The money raised for their ministry was invested in just that, their ministry. They did not use the money to live in luxury like a “small island” as “the German guy” suggested. Exactly how much money would someone require to create, update and distrubute non-copyrighted materials? -And the cost of creating/maintaining the Creation Museum?

It seems that the reports of the “Hovind scandal” are written gleefully. Hovind’s responses were represented as ignorant, especially when he spoke of his faith. I support the Hovind family and I am certain the Lord will carry them through this.

Further, I cannot fathom how posting responses that contain filthy language would be condusive to this site. If there were a way to filter such profanity, I would certainly recommend using it.

    Sharina-

Please tell me that you’re a troll. You don’t understand the fact that what he did was breaking the law? You crazy right-wing Evangelicals see sin and wrong and evil in the most innocuous things (why is it your business, or anybody else’s, whom a person has sex with, for example?), yet you see absolutely nothing wrong with tax evasion? You flag waving righties are always talking about how people that don’t support the “War on Terror” are unpatriotic, and unamerican. So what do you call one of your own that refuses to support the war by witholding his tax dollars? A hero, apparently.

Get your collective heads out of your elected official’s orifices, and wake up. Please, ffs.

Read how the IRS,The Federal Reserve and the National Debt are all an interconnected massive elaborate scam! Read the article,Why An Income Tax is NOT Necessary to Fund the U.S. Government: http://www.devvy.com/notax.html

    Rev,
I didn’t intend to inspire such a personal attack from you.

I do not agree with the position Mr. Hovind has taken regarding the government and taxes. However, he has never attempted to “conceal” his lack of payment of federal income taxes, as he does not collect a formal “income” from his ministry. Further, he has said that the volunteers at the Creation Park were not subject to withholding tax as they are not “employed” by the organization.

In regards to your other inflammatory statements of what fundamentalists have no right to judge (i.e. extra or premarital sex) I don’t think any intelligent human being would argue that Conservative Values have contributed to the depraved moral climate our country is suffering from.

My qualifications for these statements are these:
I am the office manager of a Pediatric office. I am well aware of the Federal tax laws. According to the information I viewed on his website, he was in accordance with every one of them. Nothing has been contradicted in the media reports. The “crime” was the fact that the IRS viewed his ministry…as an employer, (to put is as simply as I can).
I believe in “rendering unto Cesar”, but I do not relish the suffering of others. I support the Hovind family because their ministry was wonderful and I am grateful for it. They may have made a mistake, and they are now facing consequences, but this event does not [in my mind] negate all of the “good” the Hovind family has done in their ministry.

As far as your interpretation of “innocous things” that Evangelicals take issue with(your example was pre and extramarital sex), I would like to share the statistics that exist within my own city. Since 2002, the number of newborns born to “broken homes” (i.e. unmarried couples, and more commonly “absent father”) are up from 72% to 86.7%. If I had more time, I would demonstrate the statistics of mental illness, depression, truancy, teen pregnancy, drug addiction, etc..among children from broken homes vs. intact families.

As a mother, and a professional involved in caring for children, I can assure you that Conservative ideals (not all Conservatives are religioius) have always been condusive to creating healthy children, families, and ultimately, a “healthier nation”. For individuals that prefer the “do whatever feels good” philosophy, they are the only “winners” in their circle of influence;the best interest of others becomes irrelevant. And the type of society that creates? We see it, every day, which is why we pay so much for insurance and have to insulate ourselves with security systems.

I am not offended by “Reverend’s” inflammatory comments describing me as a “crazy” Evangelical. I admire his skill in diagnosing a mental illness without any knowlege of me.

For those that hate me, and what I must represent to them, please read the following with an open heart. I don’t judge people, and I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. I help whomever I can, whenever I can. I don’t hate, nor do I resent anyone who hates me. For those that choose to live differently, I may not agree with their decisions based on how it affects others, but I would certainly never turn my back on anyone who has need, regardless of our differences.

For the first 18 years of life, I refused to subscribe to this notion of any “God”. My life was very hard, being one of 7 children with 6 different fathers. I became a “Conservative” in my ideals and morals because I, and my siblings, suffered tremendously at the hands of a very “immoral” parent. I did NOT have any religion and was very antagonistic toward anyone who was. I considered Evangelicals and their religion as hypocritical and offensive.

At the age of 17, I set out to find information that would disprove the Bible and affirm, if there was any, the TRUE religion. I studied many, many religions and most importantly, their origins. Time and time again, the only “religion” that held up under scrutiny was the Judeo Christian religion. My conclusion was not acceptable. I was satisfied as an atheist.

Then my world turned upside down at the age of 18. There was nothing I could do -my future hopes and dreams were shattered. I contemplated suicide. At the literal end of my rope, I cried out to God challenging Him to prove Himself to me (before it was too late) “IF” He was real, as all the religious nuts claimed. In a million years I would never have believed He would answer me, but He did.

I am certain some reading this would love to chalk my experience up to the aforementioned dx of “crazy”, but I was wide awake, no medications. Though I was under signficant mental duress, I was certainly cognicent of reality.
I am now a very solidly-grounded Christian. I have seen many miracles, but the greatest by far was the change that took place in me. I am not filled with the hatred (that ring out loud in many of the responses on this site) for those that have not experienced the life-changing experience that I have. I’m sorry. I feel bad for people who suffer, feeling like they have to carry the world on their shoulders (as I did). God is real! He answers prayer! HE is involved!!

Well, I’m sure that my faith will discredit what I have said. I did not intend to engage in any debates, or slanderous email attacks. I thank Mr. Reverend for his response which prompted me to revisit this site, which I would not have done without his encouragement:)

God bless you, Mr. Reverend, the Hovind family, and (as you predicted, I am patriotic) America.

He talked too much about masons and politicians, what else he can be expecting? There was a time when the government used IRS ti go after italian mafiya, now satanik followers use IRS to put christian to prisons, very similar to the former Soviet Union. Don’t even think that Bush is a christian, if he were he would confronted because the time has come… it’s time for the real christians to be prepared for anything, not for american christians, but for real once.

This is a broadcast on behalf of the truth. I would like to remind the writer of this article that jesus DID NOT found the USA.
In fact when jesus walked the earth everyone still thought it was flat.
Also intelligent design is NOT a science nor will it ever be even a semi-plausible hypothesis.

    Nice try though.

You Crackpot neo-cons are so funny i think they should put you all in a zoo next to whatever brainless monkeys you EVOLVED from.
That way the whole world can laugh at you.

    Yours in amusement

8 reasons why science is more accurate then anything your saying.

    1. Geologic proof the earth is older then 10000 years old.

    2. Fossil evedince of creatures that existed way beyond 10000 years ago.

    3. it makes way more sense then a book that was written at a time of great corruption and when people would believe just about anything.

    4. Evolution has pretty much been proven

    5. there isn’t one mention about anything else being created in the universe that pretty much gives you a clue that most people had no knowledge of a world outside their own.

    6. Global Warming is real, if you would pull your head out of your ass and take a real look at the earth then perhaps you wouldn’t be the way you are but hey if you want to be trapped in you own little world fine be that way but stay out of the real one.

    7. There is no proof of god, There is plenty of proof however that the Earth is far older then what the bible says so i will leave it up to you to find out which one is more accurate.

    8. ( relevant to statment 7) if you rely on what a book tells you more then actual evedince then i’ve got a real nice book for ya its called ” the origin of species”

first of all, Kent Hovind never did anything to infringe on the rights of other people. He was a good man, lets get that straight. secondly, the IRS is against the constitution, they are an unconstitutional organization. They infringe on other people’s rights. They are an evil organization. thirdly and the most significant of all is.. i purchased Kent’s public records and looked at every charge against him. The charges were for unspecified reasons. Hmmm can anyone tell me what the charges were? I heard that he hired contract labor which means that the people that worked for him were responsible for paying their own taxes.. alot of companies do that because payroll tax is so high so the individual is responsible. Now, if that is true than it was not illegal unitll Kent Hovind did it. Lastly whatever he did, it is a shame that the IRS can put you in jail for “unspecified” reasons. They also got him on several counts of assault hmmm doesn’t sound like the Kent i remember. Thats becuase the “assault” charges were from his counter suite that they were running a dirty investigation… You guys are right Kent should have paid his taxes although it is kind of hard to follow IRS guidlines when they are unspecified. If they don’t like you they will make it up as they go.. it’s kind of hard to abide by the law in that since and that is why the IRS needs to be stopped!
