Friends,
One hundred and four ten years and six ago, this Great Nation was riven by conflict. War was waged. Blood was shed.
I am talking, of course, of the Great War Of The States, also known as the War of Secession and incorrectly labelled in Liberal circles as the American Civil War.
Many of our finest perished in those sad years. The flower of our nation’s manhood. Some of the last true gentlemen and the finest Christians that this sinning Earth has known.
We should remember them well, and celebrate their rich heritage with pride.
Surely no one is going to argue with that?
[At this point, the congregation moaned soft and sad]
What’s that I hear y’all say?
Oh yes.
These times are mad. Infected. Filthy. Filmed over with rank corruption, the stench of lies. Madness has taken us! The plague of liberalism.
["Too true! Too true!" we cried]
That’s right. Liberals want to attack even out most sacred heritage. Can you believe that when a Liberal sees a memorial to the fallen, all they want to do is tear it down?
["No! No! No!"]
Liberals call this beautiful memorial ‘offensive’. Is nothing sacred to them? Answer: no.
They spout all their nonsense about hate and moan on about equal rights ? as if that’s what the war was about ? but really they’re just mad for destruction and tearing down all that is good and holy.
They don’t like the battle flag either.
["Oh shame! Oh shame!"]
This is a symbol of Freedom, not oppression. Why do liberals get everything back to front?
They say it’s about slavery.

I’ve got three things to say about that.
It’s not.
Slavery was hard, yes, but life is hard. People should just get on and forget it now. Anyone can make it in this country if they try and work hard enough. It don’t matter if your ancestors came over on the deck or in the hold.
Barrack Obama’s father was a slave owner. So where does that leave your darling, liberals?
Actually, there’s nothing wrong with slavery anyway. It’s bucolically sanctioned. Just read this beautiful passage from Leviticus, as just one of the many examples.
Leviticus 25:44-46:
“Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.”
Isn’t the Bible great? If we followed it’s laws rather than the mad pronouncements of politically correct feminazis things would work a lot better round here, I can tell you!

It dosen’t matter if its offensive or not. Its history and we shuld learn from it. Not tear it down and try to hide the sin.
By using the Old Testament (specifically the book of Leviticus) as a basis for protesting, you run into a couple of problems. The first is that in the New Testament, Jesus established the New Covenant, which stated that the old Mosaic laws about unclean things were invalid. The second reason is that if you still want to quote from Leviticus, despite Jesus’ doing away with Mosaic law, then you better be prepared to enforce the whole thing, not just the parts you like. This includes not only the injunction against shellfish and mussels and such, but also against wearing fabrics made of blended fibers, cutting or shaving your beard, sowing mixed seed in a field, and a slew of other things nobody but Orthodox Jews take seriously anymore.
True Christian, I know you don’t beleive in the Bible and that’s fine. Don’t insult my pastor because of it though, please.
I am a liberal as you all know… I do not want to tear down a part of my heratage.. As I am not proud of the heratage, I still respect it.. I do not want a part of my heratage torn down,or taking away.. So it is not just cons who like their heritage.. it is liberals as well…
as far as the bible goes.. if you are going to preach out of one part of the OT then you can not pick and choose to believe in by picking what you like and saying the rest is outdated… if you preach from a part of the OT then you should live by the whole OT. not just the parts you like…
The OT also says that pedaphila is ok… so I guess if you go by the OT it is fine for you cons to molest children… (shakes head).. look either preach from all of it, live by all of it r stfu…

What you liberals don’t understand is that everything in the Bible is not only true, but exactly what God wanted you to know. There’s an endorsement of slavery in the Old Testament, and it comes from God Himself.
All Christian fundamentalists must be in favor of slavery. If you’re a Christian and you think that some bits of the OT don’t apply, then you’re just picking and choosing which bits of the Bible you believe. Might as well just renounce Christ and become an islamofascist liberal hippie.

I’d like to respectfully suggest that we need another Clinton in office to get our country back on track. Bill Clinton was a great president because (a) the economy was strong while he was in office, (b) we were not at war, and (c) the budget deficit disappeared.

If there’s nothing wrong with slavery,why did God punish Egypt for keeping the Children of Israel in bondage? That having been said,dirt farmers didn’t fight in the Confederate Army to preserve the dying institution of slavery which mainly benefitted the wealthy few. The Confederacy formed over high tarriffs and various acts of federal tyranny. The main goal of the Confederacy was self-determination. Author Thomas DiLorenzo has written books on the War of Northern Aggression and regularly does articles at http://www.lewrockwell.com He exposes Lincoln as a tyrant and White Supremacist who proposed a Constitutional Amendment in 1859 to Constitutionally make slavery a permanent institution! The bill failed so he used the slavery issue as a propaganda ploy after war broke out! The Emancipation Proclamation didn’t free slaves in the three Northern slave states nor was it enforceable in Confederate states obviously until they surrendered to the Union! Lincoln loved to laugh at William T.Sherman’s stories of genocidal destruction during his March to the Sea! Sherman later waged genocidal slaughter of American Indians out West after the war! Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus during the war and ordered his critics arrested! Yankee aggression,tyrannical Republican President,genocidal war,suspending Habeas Corpus,sound familiar?
I guess you can understand what the Bible says about slavery. God told the Israelites to kill their neighbours and take their land as a reward for their righteousness. The ones they missed they could take as slaves. Which is the obvious thing to do in those times, because those people didn’t have a home any more, and slaves were necessary for the back-breaking work that was part and parcel of those times.
The modern parallel is of course that George W Bush has a general precedent. Compared to Iraq, the U.S.A. is a righteous land. But to call the Iraqies slaves sounds a little harsh to modern ears, and over time they will be less and less slaves as things improve and they get the currency together to buy themselves back.
There are other things that were commanded in the Bible that are difficult to understand in the modern context. Deuteronomy 22:10: “Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together.” Nowadays I guess there would be very few people who would attempt this. But you don’t even have to try to know that it seems pretty reasonable advice, given the differing natures of the two beasts and the likelihood of fractiousness if they were in close proximity to each other for a lengthy period of time in the hot sun of the holy lands. The paddock would not be plowed as fast as it could be. The safest course would be to obey this commandment as well.
So there are lots of parts of the Bible that seem outmoded and grate in modern ears, you don’t necessarily have to be a liberal or an athiest, such as myself. But on closer examination, there is a lot of sense there too, so I would not jump to judgement too rashly. I wouldn’t necessarily support a return to slavery at this time, but it would be just silly to rule it out completely, because times change and there are new necessities of life. The Bible is a storehouse of good advice and precedents we can profitably use in our day to day life, as well as in the bigger issues of the world.

1. Yeah, putting aside old memorials of war is bad. But the battle flag of the confederacy could be explained next to it. Otherwise some people could see it as offensive.
2. Even if the bible says that slavery isn?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t forbidden, I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•m against it. You could anytime be on the other side, you know. And it has proven not to work. Much to the dismay of a few masters that got their heads chopped off. :)
@Sam: Unfortunaely, True Chrtistian is right. Just read the old testament yourself. You will find some really shocking things. Then read the new testament and see there: Jesus revoked the old laws!

(A)The economy was strong while clinton was in office because of the republican senate and house behind him and from the earlier policies of reagan and bush.
(B)We were not at war publicly. There were plenty of attacks on the US that clinton ignored passively.
(C)The budget deficit disappearing goes back to the republican congress.
