Str now BANNED in Germany

Friends,

I just received a disturbing email from one of our German supporters:

“Dear Shelley,
the situation is getting worst here of Germany. I was visiting the internet cafe today and I was shocked to know that your website is banned in Germany. Please find attacked an actual screenshot. It basically says that the website shelleytherepublican.com contains images and texts that will be unsuitable for citizens of the German Reich. Any attempts of reading banned websites will result in drakonian punishment. But it’s not only your website they are banning. Take a look at Cnn. What they write on Cnn.de is much different than what they write on Cnn.com. Shelley, I don’t think we can do anything about it, but at last I want you and your readers to know what is going on.
All the best from Zwickau.
Signed,
Rainer John”

I don’t like to say it but I just have to: I TOLD YOU SO! Germany is definitely turning nazi again. I keep writing about this for years!
Thanks for your letter, John. I hope you are well.

Thanks for reading.

This is clearly a blatant lie and you should be severely punished by that! Anyone here can test the untruthfulness of your assertion: just set up a German HTTP proxy in your browser (seek for one at http://www.publicproxyservers.com) and try visiting str.com.

    Hello from Germany.

A American Webfiltering Company is blocking an american Website!!

    Huh!!

The Bush-Administration has considered that STR.COM does harm the American Affairs outside the USA.

    Huh!!

Check your connections to the White-House, maybe they can tell you more, or ask Websense why they are blocking your site.
    Contact Wbsense:
    Tel: +1 800.723.1166 or +1 858.320.8000
    Fax: +1 858.458.2950

i don’t trust your info so i googled on websense and it turns out to be a downloadable webfilter to be used by, for example, companies. i’m not german, dutch is my native tongue, but the message in the picture is about the policy of his company currently not allowing access to the shelleytherepublican-website because the category of messageboards and clubs are filtered.

so this is not a governmental issue, it’s a particular initiative

  4. Lu-Tze March 30th, 2007 4:32 am

Ah, finally a funny post again, the latest ones were lacking the old funnyness. I guess there is no point asking, why you couldn’t fake a screenshot actually saying the same as the text and not one of a company webfilter, denying employees private use of the internet during work hours, common in most companies everywhere.

  5. Marc March 30th, 2007 4:50 am

It basically says that the website shelleytherepublican.com contains images and texts that will be unsuitable for citizens of the German Reich. As if you knew German..

“Grund: Die Kategorie ‘Message-Boards und Clubs’ wird von Websense gefiltert”
In English: “Reason: The Category ‘Message-Boards and Clubs’ is beeing filtered by Websense.

So, I’d say it filters WordPress :)
Oh, and by the way - if it was really Germany thah blocks str, I guess they wouldn’t use a US-company’s software :) We don’t have the “Great Firewall” in western Europe, unlike China.

    Nice try, thought.

I dont understand this godless foreign language, but I think it means that we were banned for daring to tell the truth and for standing up to the international threat of islamofascist terrorism. If germany has banned us, we must be doing something right.

Somehow i doubht accuracy of this article ;)

Maybe our German friend can translate for us that this is probably saying that it a family friendly filer or somesuch.

Last election GW Bush re election website wasnt available outside the US.

Basically unless you came from a US ip address it wouldnt let you look at it.

  8. Lister March 30th, 2007 8:12 am

Small thing, if screen shot was obtained in a net cafe.. where you are supposed to be able to access chat boards.. then im a republican..
websense is an application that is set up to block sites deemed undesirable by a COMPANY..i.e. somewhere where you work. I essentially this just says that at this company the website is filtered.. as you shouldnt be accessing it whilst at work.. you are there to work not to have a laugh you workshy toad!!!
At net cafe’s why would they block all clubs and message boards? ( which if you look at the screen shot is what STR falls under), this would seriously kill their business.
BTW Websense is a US based firm I think.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

  9. JC March 30th, 2007 8:13 am

Oh and one more addtional point.

What langauge did Jesus speak again?

    I’ll give you a hint…. It wasn’t english!

  10. Skinz March 30th, 2007 8:35 am

I agree with Tristan. The truth is often uncomfortable and those who would seek to censor it are afraid of it. STR should be proud to count themselves alonside other such essential truths as Darwin’s Origin of Species.

  11. Shelley March 30th, 2007 11:05 am

Thanks ya’ll for your comments. I value all input, except from people that tell me that I am wrong of course! Remember, I am only trying to help and warn you about the dangers of Germ-any.

    Thanks for the support, Skinz.

Shelley, I don’t say you’re wrong. str.com was obviously blocked on your german friend’s computer. But not for the reason you mentioned.

    Little helper for you: babelfish.altavista.com

“I dont understand this godless foreign language, but I think it means that we were banned for daring to tell the truth and for standing up to the international threat of islamofascist terrorism. If germany has banned us, we must be doing something right.
    Tristan”

jajaja, I was expecting your “expert” opinion JAJAJAJA.
And for the hot hot Shelley, I can see you, 70 years old, trying to use the computer… LOL!!!

  14. Proud german March 30th, 2007 1:50 pm

That screen is from an corporate intranet. It shows a (made in the USA) filter software. Corporations often restrict the access to the internet so that their employees don?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t waste time surfing during work.

Best proof, that STR is not banned? I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•M STILL HERE!

And a big LOL for that old nazi theory. Oh, and if it was true, NOW WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO, CRYBABIES?

    Jawohl meine Herren,
It is all true!!! Don’t listen to the paid propaganda germans, who claim they can access this website. It is blocked all over the Reich. Not only that, we are slowly forced to use this communist computer program called Lunix, which is basically preloaded now on every computer you are allowed to buy. They reprogrammed the browser, called FeuerFuchs, so only sites allowed by the regime can be accessed. The superior Microsoft programs are soon to be verboten. I’m writing this on my old C64, where I wrote my own TCP/IP stack in Basic to circumvent the Reich’s firewall.
Keep up the good work, Shelly, you are my only hope…

IF,and I mean IF,STR were banned by the German government,it would be because it’s politically incorrect hate speech by German legal standards, not because Nazi zombies rose from the grave to start a Fourth Reich! Everyone who has a higher than room temperature I.Q. knows the STR crew are liars, the question is to what degree? Are they “Christian” Republican fascist dim-wits who do a bad job at lying? Are they Groucho Marxists doing a parody of Republicans and lying about it being left-wing satire? Or are they government disinformation to lull mentally defective Republicans into believing absurd crap while making liberals think they’re vastly superior in their ideology to anyone politically to the Right of themselves? Is this site doing phony “hate speech” to stir said liberals to clamor for “hate speech” legislation? I’m speculating about the possibilities but one of those must be right!

PLEASE TELL ME THAT YOU GUYS ARE KIND OF A HILBILLY COMEDY GROUP. JUST DISCOVERED YOUR WEBSITE AND BELIEVE ME IT?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•S NOT BANNED AND I REALLY HOPE YOU?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•LL CARRY ON PUBLISHING THIS RUBBISH. LOOKING FORWARD TO SOME GOOD LAUGHS.

    YOU?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•RE MENTAL.

  19. Einmaliger March 31st, 2007 5:21 am

Very good letter indeed. For example, cnn.de is indeed different to cnn.com - it is actually forwarded to edition.cnn.com, and the odd name “Rainer John” seems to be a word play (”Rainer” being pronounced like the German word for “Pure”). Either this “German supporter” is having a joke on you, or you just made the letter up, trying to be funny again.

  20. Ugg2 March 31st, 2007 8:28 am

Haha. I’m also from Germany. And nothing is banned here.
In contrast to the USA ppl in Germany can tolerate silly sites like yours. This site is part of the truth of the USA and everyone should know it.

It’s time for old Billy Bob to pull out that broken record again - if they can fake the moon landing they can fake anything. Nice try, Adolph.

  22. Proud german March 31st, 2007 10:30 am

@Einmaliger: Rainer is actually a german personal name. But I don?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t know anyone in Germany with the Family name John.

Especially as we have our own comparable name: Johann.

BBN: This still does not explain how I can still access this site. There?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s only one real explanation: It?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s not banned in Germany, it?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s just banned on this specific computer. (Actually the message on the picture says that all blogs and so on are permitted, it?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s likely a security measure or something like that.)

You see, that’s the problem! You simply can’t afford to be human like everyone else and makes mistakes occasionally. I won’t condemn you for making a mistake (and I think most here won’t as well), so why don’t you realize your error and apologize for spreading incorrect information instead of lying?

  24. Alamo April 2nd, 2007 4:12 am

As “Surpressed Crowd” already pointed out, STR has been banned here in Germany. Don’t believe all those lying, Linux using guys here. They are all working for the new Reichspropaganda-Ministerium.
But, what you may not have heard until now: The German Reichskanzler Merkel has announced that she plans to expand the “Contents??Ǭßuberung” so that large areas of Europe will be save from Content that could influence the European people and open their eyes.
Some of the countries that will no longer be able to read your enlightening content:
    Poland, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Sweden…
The government decided not to take any actions for (or better “against” the netherlans, because they say, the global warming will cause the sea level to rise, so there will be no netherlands any more in 10 years.
BTW: Maybe now you will understand, why German cars need so much fuel. It’s all part of a cunning plan to speed up the global warming and let the Dutch people drown - they call it the Neue Endl??sung.

  25. Reichskanzler April 2nd, 2007 9:34 am

    >But I don?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•t know anyone in Germany with the Family name John.

    Sorry my Friend,
I actually know a family called “John”, although its not at all pronouced like the diciple of jesus :)

Well, at least STR saved me my Monday. Thanks for the good laugh Shelley!

    Cya

  26. Jack Ripoff April 2nd, 2007 11:49 am

As I said, Alamo, you don’t have to believe me. You can verify for yourself the goddamn thing, just point your browser to any German proxy and try to visit str.com. Oh, and BTW, I don’t work for no “Reichspropaganda-Ministerium”…

  27. Proud German April 2nd, 2007 12:50 pm

There is no Reichspropagandaministerium. 3rd Reich = dead, okay? If they would need something like it it would be the BUNDESpropagandaministerium.

The next thing: Why should we want to eradicate the dutch. They?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•re actually nice (exceptions are football and caravans on our motorways :))?

Oh, and please, my Laptop just seems to be unable to run smooth with any Linux variant I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•ve tried so far. Sigh, guess I have to stick to XP for now. Oh well, shit happens.

PS: Germany?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s government is not able to censor content in the other european nations. We are presiding the council, but the power we have there has it?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•s limits.

    lol,
no, that site isn’t banned in Germany!
I’m still here and I’ll come back!

As long as we know it better than you we have not to ban Websites!

  32. Carsten April 16th, 2007 9:44 am

    Germany calling…al over the world.
Whoever states we have a filtered access to the www is simply lying!
How could I answer your unbelievably nonsensical messages from here, Germany, if your site was filtered?
Come on, this aint China, and Hitlers long dead, and both of it is good that way!
