Advanced Evangelism: The Wheel of Power

Friends,

This is a great witnessing tool you can use any time you feel personal doubts about your faith, or perhaps when you encounter an Atheist. It’s a simple diagram that the STR fellowship calls the “Wheel of Power”. It was invented, or should I say revealed to Pastor Magnus Bucks the other day.

If you feel that contemplating this has strengthened your faith, please consider donating generously to our humble ministry. Your money will go towards vital tasks such as shutting down America’s abortuaries and guaranteeing a republican President beyond 2008.

Circular reasoning is for the weak

  2. jimmygoddard February 5th, 2008 4:07 am

Idiot - this is the wheel of power. it shows how simple biblical ideas are completely consistent and correct unlike the mis-matched hodge-podge of ideas associated with secular atheism.

You should try prayer - or read the Bible one day, you might learn something.

  3. misike February 5th, 2008 5:35 am

Then according to the wheel of power I can base my beliefs on an Empty Paper. You should ask me : “but why believe the Empty Paper?”. I say: “Because an Empty Paper is infallible”. There. I am in the wheel of power and none can prove me wrong :P

Or should I choose a bag of sand… noooo you would say I am an idol worshipper. Go on STR bow to your Idol, khmmm Bible.

Circular reasoning, how nice. But you got it wrong.

Here, I corrected it for you:

We know that the bible is telling lies, thus it is not infallible.
As it is not infallible, it can?Ǭ¥t be the word of god.
As it isn?Ǭ¥t the word of god, it can?Ǭ¥t but tell lies.

“Idiot - this is the wheel of power. it shows how simple biblical ideas are completely consistent and correct unlike the mis-matched hodge-podge of ideas associated with secular atheism. ”

It?Ǭ¥s just circular reasoning, an old, outdated and easily defeated kind of “argument” that no one with a working brain could actually believe in.

    PS:
The bible is a lie because god doesn?Ǭ¥t exist.
And because god doesn?Ǭ¥t exist, the bible?Ǭ¥s a lie.

You do know that circular reasoning is one of the few universally accepted logical fallacies?

Let’s try this logic: The Quaran is the Word of God => The Quaran tells us so => The Quaran is infallible => The Quaran is the Word of God

Do you think it’s equally correct?^^

  7. Thomas February 5th, 2008 10:24 am

    Exactly what LsH is saying,

you can replace the word ‘Bible’ with any other object (Quran, Thora, Evolution of Species, etc.) and just apply the same ‘wheel of power’. And then when someone tries to tell you why this reasoning is false, you can just reply like jimmy, calling him ‘idiot’ and all that.

Once again this just shows you’re inexplicable ignorance.

Well, in fact, circular logic is a powerful logic… to prove something that CAN NOT be proven. And by the way, trying to prove “rationnally” the existence of God is called ontology. It’s an entire branch of philosophy and many great thinkers wrote proofs of the existence of God (St Augustine, Descartes, Blaise Pascal, Thomas Aquinas) and none of these proofs were consistent…

So I have two news for you, Jimmy. One bad, one good..
The bad : the existence of God CAN NOT be rationnally proven.
The good : the non-existence of God CAN NOT either be rationnally proven.

It’s why the belief in God is called faith and not reason. But who cares ? Faith is respectable enough. You don’t have to justify it.

“Your money will go towards vital tasks such as shutting down America?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s abortuaries and guaranteeing a republican President beyond 2008.”

The phrase “fuck off” springs to mind.

  11. Link48010 February 5th, 2008 4:48 pm

You know your whole wheel thing only works so long as you believe that the bible is infallible, which it’s not. or as you believe it’s Gods word, which it’s not, it’s written by generations and patched together by the English church to hold people under control. and only if you do as the bible tells you, which by my first too points, any logical person wouldn’t.

  12. Matt February 5th, 2008 5:50 pm

ITFAN - just a comment on this bit:

“Faith is respectable enough. You don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have to justify it.”

Why not? Surely anything worth believing is worth justifying reason… It’s like saying “i know there is a spagetti monster outside my window, it’s my faith so i don’t have to justify it”. Ridiculous. Faith is ridiculous.

  13. LeftTurn February 5th, 2008 8:33 pm

you believe it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Gods word, which it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s not, it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s written by generations and patched together

    Link 1, STR -?.

Not only was the Bible created through the combination of various Gospels, written by people, who the Bible declares possess faulty judgement, but there were a number of gospels conveniently left out, like, say, the Gospel of Judas.

Secondly, the First Testament and Second Testament conflict on a number of issues, specifically how to punish and how to be punished. How can we call the Bible infallible when it contradicts itself?

  14. jimmygoddard February 5th, 2008 9:13 pm

Of course not - everybody knows that the Quran is not the word of God. Your argument fails at step one.

  15. ITFAN February 5th, 2008 9:40 pm

Jimmy : Apparently, the muslims (over a 1.3 billion people in the world) doesn’t know the Quran is not the word of God. Actually, they believe it is. Your argument falls at step one.

Ehm… you know… Aristotle already knew that circular reasoning is junk… and he lived more than 2000 years ago and his thinking built the basis for modern Western world thinking. A truth can only be a whole truth, when a logical conclusion is drawn from at least two undeniable examples. Let me give you a hint:
    Ex. 1: Aristotle is human.
Ex 2: Humans are mortal. Both pretty much undeniable, huh?
    Conc.: Aristotle is mortal.

Let me give you another example:
Ex. 1: The Bible was written down by men.
    Ex. 2: Men are fallible.
Conc.: The bible is fallible. See? It’s not that hard, is it? :-)

God or Lucifer or whoever bless all those equipped with brains!

    1) The bible is true.
    2) We know the bible to be true because the writers were instructed by God on exactly what to write.
    3) We know that the writers were not pretending to hear God because…

Your bible has a higher ratio of holes per block than swiss cheese

  20. Wraith February 9th, 2008 4:05 am

“Of course not - everybody knows that the Quran is not the word of God. Your argument fails at step one.”
-The Bible was not written by a magic beam of light, though that would have been damn cool, it was written by man, creatures of judgement and error, therefore the Bible is susceptible to error *and* it, therefore, is not necessarily correct, perfect, or accurate. So, short story long, your arguement, as always, crashes and burns at step one. Epic fail.

Your ‘wheel of power’ is about as effective as Billy’s wheel of repeating; ‘Stop doing drugs and having the gay sex’ yet it’s far less entertaining…

I’m pretty convinced that this blog is satire after looking at that picture.

  30. Michael Brown May 14th, 2008 7:52 am

The bible is a human document, it was written by humans, and thus is subject to be wrong. Also, if you look at the bible it completely contradicts itself. There are countless examples of this, for example, Old Testiment states that we should take “an eye for eye” which means that we should take revenge, whereas Jesus in the New Testiment states that we should “forgive seventy-times seven” which isn’t 490 times, but that we do not have the moral grounds to take revenge, no matter what has been done to us. So above diagrem is rubbish for that alone, and something - even the bible - isn’t infallible because it “just is” as it seems to be suggesting.
