Dear Readers,
From time to time we recieve letters from our reader which touch our hearts. Maureen from Nevada wrote to tell us about a tragedy that threatens to split up her family - it’s a danger that threatens every American family which is why we ask every one of our readers to pray for Maureen and her troubled son:
Dear Pastor Bucks,
Just recently my son Bobby ‘came out’ to me. I had been worried for awhile. His teachers said most of his grades were slipping and he seemed depressed and withdrawn.
Bobby said he?d been hiding it for awhile because he was afraid I would reject him. I sat him down and told him that I loved him and that God loved him, but that his salvation was in danger if he did not resist his unnatural temptations. I told him how being gay would mean he would live a shorter life, and that if he couldn’t change his orientation he could be celibate like most the ex-gays are.
He started crying saying something along the lines of ?I knew you wouldn’t understand! You?re just like everyone else!? before running to his room and slamming the door.
WRONG LIFESTYLE: Maureen does not want to lose her son, but she understands that if he persists in his gayness he will need to be cast out for the good of the other children. But is there a choice?
What did I do wrong? I don’t want to lose my son, but I fear I already have. I talked it over with his therapist, who had the ludicrous idea that homosexuality was unchangeable and that trying to repress could lead to lots of psychological damage (I?ve dropped him and will try to be finding another therapist with more moral beliefs).
I wouldn’t be surprised if he?s the one who?s feeding my son all the homosexual propaganda about how its ?ok? to be gay. That, or how homosexuality has engulfed the media, making it seem ?cool? and ?hip? and how they were just another oppressed minority. You didn’t have to worry about seeing two men making out on tv at my age!

Maureen I will not bash you for the way you feel because I think you must be going through enough hell of your own. However you should consider the hell your son is going through.I do not believe people choose to be homosexual and make their lives more difficult. What they need from their family is love and understanding community will bash them enough they should not get that at home as well.
Your son confiding in you because it was tearing him up inside to not be honest with you. I am sure he had been pretending to like girls,and making mom and dad happy by dating a few, but he was living a lie. He was trusting you to be there for him.I do not know where you got the idea that he wouldn’t live the same life span as if he were heterosexual,why would this make a difference if you are referring to AIDS it is not just a gay disease.
Many gay men and women live long and happy lives they just need to accept it themselves so they don’t let it stop them from being who they want to be. I have a brother who is now 54 years old my mother never accepted him being gay and stopped talking to him altogether. He has been a drunk living on the streets of California since he was 20 years old now. He was never able to come to terms with being gay because he had no family support, I doubt this is the life you want for your son
As far as God plays out in all this I really think this is a catholic thing hat states gays will go to hell. My problem with this is I feel the God I believe in is a forgiving God and gays do not go to hell just because they are gay,Jesus did not die on the cross just so someone can go to hell for just simply being gay.
