Question: Which is the most environmentally friendly car out of a Prius or a Hummer? If you guessed the Toyota Prius then not only are you a deranged America-hating liberal but you are also completely wrong: A new study from CNW Marketing Research has finally debunked the myth that these foreign-made electric toy-cars are environmentally friendly at all.

Hi - Nickel is actually dangerous and burdened the environment - this kind of batteries are the nickel-cadmium-accumulators. Of course, we all know that, these accumulators containing dangerous substances - not only nickel.
However the reason, why people prefer small cars is definitaley the gasoline price and (especially in bigger cities) the small size. Right now I work in the city and it is nearly impossible for me to find a free parking lot in the city. (I live 20 miles off Vienna, but I work in the city) The car traffic is so terrible in the morning, I need 1 hour by car and I need 15 minutes more to find an empty parking area.
Only 30 minutes I need with the underground, for the same way into the city. But sometimes I need my car. A smaller car would be more useful to find a parking lot sooner. This is the main reason and the gasoline price of course, why many people in Europe prefer a smaller car since some years - especially in the cities. On the countryside people still keep their big cars - they need their vehicles for their business and transportations - a farmer or a firm owner or a mechanics.
My cousin Mary from S-Texas told me last month, they got such high gas prices in the States right now (I dont remember again exactly) - but I think she told me something like 4 Dollars a gallon.
But we have the same troubles in Europe. Now I remember to a funny situation: I will never forget the cheapest gas. The definitely cheapest gas price I have seen in the Middle East.
Exactly one year ago, last spring we were on the way to the Red Sea with my scientific colleague, a marine biologist from Assuan. We took his car and we had to cross the Nubian Desert (Southern Egypt near Sudan border) before we arrived at the coral reefs. It was anywhere in this huge and hot desert, as we passed a tiny sandy gas station. He stoped, talked something in Arab to this Nubian owner and he filled up. My fellow payed some Egypt.Pounds and I watched them by their bargain. After a while I realized, my fellow didnt payed more than 3-4 Dollars for a full tank. He told me, in the desert they are even cheaper as in the cities like in Luxor or Assuan. The average price for gas in the Middle East are 20-30 Cents a gallon, depends if you know this guy well or not. (This the typically Orient, I said to him).
Return to the subject - of course, Nickel is dangerous and it is strictly forbidden to throw away a Nickel Cadmium battery - the people have to pass back as hazardous waste. The big problem is the motor traffic in the bigger cities and the air pollution - this is the reason, why people prefer small cars.

Sony laptops use lithium-based batteries. The chemical symbol for nickel is Ni. If you got those facts wrong, I am willing to bet that the production of Polonium doesn’t use Nickel, that nickel is non-toxic (most metals are), and that these cars don’t use nickel batteries to begin with.

It’s called disposing if waste safely. There’s a safer way to dispose of batteries. Plus, I recall that taking care of the enviorment wasn’t important, as pollution being an issue is a myth according to you.

First, sn is the chemical symbol for tin. Second, elements may be grouped based on similar properties, but an element being in the same group doesn’t always mean that it’s exactly the same as another element in the same group.

Okay, this guy is seriously ignorant. I won’t go into showing him all of the errors in what he said because it’s already been done. However, I do take offense with what Sara Carter said. I happen to be homeschooled, have a GPA of 3.9, and obviously disagree with this nut. Just because a few nuts in an organization happen to be very vocal(and very stupid), you shouldn’t try to do away with the whole shebang. I mean, can any large organization say that they don’t have any nuts in their ranks? I’m thinking the Democratic and Republican parties. While this person is obviously homeschooling his kids for the wrong reasons, most homeschoolers have the right reasons. Just look at the state of the public schools today. I’ll admit, we do have a lot more extremely paranoid people in the homeschooling arena than most groups, but where else are they going to turn if they think the government is trying to brainwash their children? There are always the private schools, but people who have nutty conspiracy theories do tend to be lower income. Anyway, back to the point. Obviously there are the exceptions, but overall, homeschooled kids tend to be brighter than public schooled kids. So, before you throw the baby out with the bathwater, consider the benefits that having brighter adults will bring.
