Hi - my cousin Mary is dietist and works in the Christus Spohn Hospital, Beeville South Texas. Many people, especially patients have to eat healthy - otherwise it will take a very long time to get cured. Healthy eating is not a “new-age philosophy” - it is thousends of years old. The people in the past had no medicine - or not such an effective medicine like we have now - they got actually cured by eating the right food.
Of course, I understand what you mean, there are some people they analyze every piece of their meal - if it goes conform with their nutrition philosophy. (we have a lot of them in Greece too). Not only lefties prefer or are interested in “healthy eating”. For instant, the Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger proclaims, how important the right food is for your body.
Nowadays we have a huge assortment of different vegetables, meat, fruits, pastries and so on - since 50 years it is easy to eat a balanced diet. Vitamin deficiency and deficiency signs results by malnutrition and unilateral diet - especially by children and old people - and it is very common in poor countries.
Sometimes your stereotyping on people is funny - you write or actually believe, all Liberals are Godless - all Republicans are Patriots - all Liberals are gays, satanists, atheists and so on - but the world and the people are much more complex and widely different.
As I spend the last time at the Red Sea, I met conservative muslims as well, and they told me nearby the same story like you. I still remember to his words, he told me, “All good Muslims will rise up to heaven. But all white people are Godless - the Christians are on the wrong way. Only good Muslims will come to paradise!” …..and so on. His stereotyping was the same like you say sometimes, by using different values of course, but the way of thinking is the same.
What I want to say is, to believe or to praise God and Jesus is great! But this is my own belief and I don`t want to tell it to everybody. Most of my American friends are Democrats or Liberals, but no one of them is a gay for example, or Godless or a vegetarian.

Hi Richard - even I was very surprised as I heared in news, on TV in the public and so on, the majority of the Europeans like Obama and would support him (even my mother…LOL). I don`t know exactly the real reason why, I believe, one important reason can be, he is complete new on stage of world politics and this means, he is immaculate - and he has actually an immaculte appearance, he is young, he speaks clear, he is intelligent, he has charisma and he is complete different to all presidents before.
Well, I can just speak about the people in Central and Southern Europe - and I realized, especially women like him. He is definitely not unlikeable, this is a fact.
Many Europeans are tired by the endless Iraq war. On the other hand we support and we prefer the war on terror in all respects. The first ismalic terrorists came to Europe in the late 60ies and commited deadly attempts. Therefore we support the war on terror total. We believe, the main reason for the war on Iraq are the oilfields only, nothing more. It has nothing to do to blast the terrorists to make the world saver. Chause these islamic terrorgroups are all over the islamic world (even all over the globe) and not in Iraq or Afghanistan only. However, these points can be the reason, why Obama became very popular in Europe.

Hi Abbie - yes, my friend in NYC told me about that some months ago, as he visited me in Austria the last time. Fox News is just propaganda, we know that, even in the Alps. I can imagine - all this War on Terror hysteria - my US friends told me a bit about that, like such sayings: “You are not for war on terror? You are not a patriot!”. Some people from the States sayed, they believe, the whole world criticizes the US goverment right now, they dislike us. That`s not right, what I mean is, right now we Europeans are in big troubles with all these extreme islamic fundamentalists in Europe. They try to penetrate Europe and all important offices. Well, we have a lot of foreign workers form the Middle East since the 60ies. We had no troubles, never and some of my colleagures are muslims. It began, as Khomeini became the leader of Iran and the Shah went into exile. It began as Khomeini was the leader in Iran at the end of the 70ies and he was the first who supported all these islamic terror groups, like Hizbolla and so on. Since this time, the real troubles began.
In the 80ies the situation was a bit better, muslims and cia officers fought against the Red Army in Afghanistan - and both won. The Holy Warriors in Afghanistan left this land and try to bring the Islam all over the globe. Influenced by all these ultra conservative mullahs and muezzins.
