1968 Chicago, Illinois riots In Chicago, violence erupted in the black ghetto on the west side, eventually consuming a 28-block stretch of West Madison Street. Looting and arson took place primarily in the corridor between Roosevelt Road on the south and Chicago Avenue on the north.
The next day Mayor Richard J. Daley imposed a curfew on anyone under age 21, closed streets to automobile traffic and banned the sale of guns, ammunition and inflammable materials. About 10,500 police were sent in to protect the fire fighters, soon joined by 6,700 Illinois National Guards. After President Lyndon Johnson ordered 5,000 troops into the city, the General in charge declared that no one, including residents, would be allowed to congregate in riot areas. He ordered his troops to use tear gas against looters; Mayor Daley told the Chicago police to shoot to kill anyone in the act of committing arson, and shoot to maim anyone looting. Source: Wikipedia

Violent democ-rat party operatives and left-wing radicals are preparing for yet another roit in 2008, 40 years later.
The domestic terrorist group “ReCreate’68” is the newest and the sickest form of left-wing terrorism. They are planning bloody riots with loss of life and property in the city if Denver during the DNC convention.
The list of supporters for ReCreate ‘68 reads like a FBI list of the worst domestic terror organizations.

We at ShelleyTheRepublican call upon the President of the United States, our beloved Leader George W. Bush to issue the Martial Law order! We need to keep these dangerous left-wing criminals, these subversive troublemakers under control! The police needs to patrol the streets of Denver during the convention (which itself should be criminal) and shoot criminal elements of our society on sight.

Hi Shelley - I am living in Europe and know more about the States and their organisations like you.
For instant - the DEADHEADS - is a name given to fans of the American jam band THE GRATEFUL DEAD founded in San Francisco in the mid 60ies by Jerry Garcia, he was the bandleader and lead guitarplayer. In the 1970s, a number of fans began travelling to see the band in as many shows or festival venues as they could. With large numbers of people thus attending strings of shows, a community developed. Deadheads developed their own idiom. This band is very popular all over the globe - and believe me, they have nothing to do with terror…ask the FBI or your president! LOL
I remember very well to the early 70ies - I was a young gun with long hair and was a big fan of the Grateful Dead - I was such a Deadhead as well!!
Unfortunatelly most of the readers and writers are too young, therefore they have no idea how big this 68-mainstream actually was.
And the DeadHeads were part of them (now we are between 50 and 60…but I feel much younger as 55 and look much younger as well….thank God!!)
However - most of my friends in the States belong to these groups, which you have mentioned.

In the early 70ies our common goal was peace, because the war in Vietnam was a desaster. It was 1971, as more than 50.000 young Americans died in the jungle of Indochina - the students (many US citizens as well) stood up and demonstrated against this war in South Vietnam - and it was a huge demonstration. It began at Berkeley Universtiy California - later all over America and all over the globe - all (young) people demonstrated against this senseless war in all countries worldwide. Nixon and Kissinger were under pressure….bombing Cambodia plus his Watergate…he had to leave the White House. 2 years later the war ended march 1975 as the last soldiers left Saigon by such a typically green whirlybird.
You dislike all these groups - I can imagine very well - cause all of them are antiwar supporters.
Shelley - you are too young. In the late 60ies and 70ies the police was much stricter and harder as it is nowadays, in many countries - because the antiwar mainstream was gigantic, colossal.

Shelley - just a quick note - these people from the 68 movement became older - we are not interested to demonstrate. I was a longhaired hippie in the 70ies - but I can`t imagine, to have long hair again and to demonstrate - and my friends as well.
These people became older - and there is no worldwide peace movement anymore. But I remember, these demonstrations were pretty hard in the late 60ies and 70ies. But nobody died - for sure! (except 4 students were killed by National Guardsmen at the Kent University Ohio, 1970)
Some of these old 68 demonstrators became politicians or even clerics and so on. Most of us are nice citizens, have a family a good job and so on.
It was actually a worldwide movement - in Australia, America, Europe and Japan. I had good connections to the States in the late 60ies, cause my cousin Mary was an antiwar demonstrater as well, she was student at the Uni-Toledo Ohio. Now she works in a hospital in S-Texas. My friend in NYC was antiwar demonstrator too - and so on and we had a high number of riots in Europe as well. Many WW2 veterans supported us!! - in Europe and in the States.
However - we got older - and the younger generation is not interested in it anymore. Times are changing - most of WW2 veterans died - we had a lot of WW2 veterans, who supported the idea of worldwide peace.

Yes, a dollar will always remain a dollar. A Euro will always be a Euro, a Peso will always be a Peso, etc. However, the value of a dollar is falling due to price inflation. For example, let’s take the gas prices. Gas is approaching $4 in my area. Gas is needed in trucks that deliver goods. As a result, the cost of other assorted goods also goes up to compensate for the cost to ship them. The average job salary remains the same however. This makes a single dollar worth less and less.
