Thought for the day: Gay “Marriage”

Friends,

A lot of folks ask me why we Christians are so het-up about the gays obtaining the right to marry in certain liberal states of the USA. They do not seem to understand how gay marriage threatens our families, and the very foundations of America.

“Jimmy”, they ask “What difference does it make you you what the gays get up to in their own privacy?”. What indeed - well the answer is real simple for anybody who has spent more than a moment to think about it - let me spell it out for you:

  • California just ruled that homosexual marriage is “equivalent” to heterosexual marriage.
  • That means if you are a man married to a woman, then your marriage is now equivalent to being gay.
  • The bible says that people who are gay will go to Hell, and I’m pretty sure that includes any sin that is “equivalent” to being gay.
  • So thanks to the liberals, everybody who is married in the states of California and Massachusetts is now going to hell.

See how that works?

I don’t expect my common-sense argument to appeal to the pro-sodomy legislature of certain states, however I expect all sensible citizens will take note just as soon as the same wrong-headed officials start ruling that murder is good and night is day.

Yours in Christ,

Jimmy Goddard

“That means if you are a man married to a woman, then your marriage is now equivalent to being gay.”

No, it measn that the two men in a gay marriage have the same legal standing as the two partners in a heterosexual marriage. The gay are now equivalent to your marriage, IE they have risen up. You didn´t sink down.

“The bible says that people who are gay will go to Hell, and I’m pretty sure that includes any sin that is “equivalent” to being gay.”

Then again, this was a ruling concerning secular law. Something very much differrent from the bible. It has no impact on the bible.

“So thanks to the liberals, everybody who is married in the states of California and Massachusetts is now going to hell.”

Faulty conclusion to a faulty thought process.

“I expect all sensible citizens will take note just as soon as the same wrong-headed officials start ruling that murder is good and night is day.”

Unlike homosexual marriage, no one would support that stuff.

“I don’t expect my common-sense argument to appeal to the pro-sodomy legislature of certain states”

It doesn´t appeal to anyone using at least a bit of rationality.

“1) The bible says that people who are gay will go to Hell, and I’m pretty sure that includes any sin that is “equivalent” to being gay.

    2) So thanks to the liberals, everybody who is married in the states of California and Massachusetts is now going to hell.”
-I added the 1 and the 2 to make it easier to express my point; Arguement 1 is based on an assumption (”I’m pretty sure that”) therefore arguement 2 is *also* based on assumption as it’s directly affected by arguement one… Neither is based in fact.

From there, to say that because the state finds gay marriage equal to hetero marriage God must find hetero marriage as sinful as gay marriage is to say that God is influenced by human laws and beliefs. Why should God care what is, and what is not, law… Is He not truth? Should He not know better than; ‘Well your law said gay couples could marry therefore all couples are gay’ (which is a fallacious arguement by the way).

To put it simply; Are we to follow God? Or is God following us? For God to condemn all because the law finds homosexual and heterosexual marriages equal is to say God, in some bizzarre twisted logic, is following *our* law, not the other way around.

OMG, this site is hilarious! Well done, Jimmy - this is one of the funniest sites I’ve seen in a long, long time. I almost got suckered into thinking you were serious about some of the comments you made, even though they were so egregious. I guess having all those loony, kook fundies in the USA makes for the type of environment where a site like yours could be mistaken for being the real thing.

You’re a bone fide comedian, that’s for sure - keep it up, I’ll make sure I visit again whenever I’m in need of a pick-me-up!

Colorado could be one of the next set of states that legalizes Gay marriage, Colorado has always been a fairly independant state, and with areas like Boulder and other “hippy towns” as they’ve been described by friends of mine, it won’t be long. I only count the days.

I’ve seen old postings on archives sites that said typed by the same STR staff “Shelley’s views are outrageous, offensive and wrong, but no more so than the right-wing pundits that saturate our media. The purpose of this website is to point out how utterly absurd these right-wing views are.”

And it can also be found here: http://friendlyatheist.com/2006/12/01/shelley-the-republican-debunked/

Here comes my old Mod friend to STR’s rescue. but hey, STR is the one to linked to Friendly Atheist anyhow.

So, so glad I live in California.
    * California just ruled that homosexual marriage is “equivalent” to heterosexual marriage.
Ahem. What you just said is “equivalent’ to stupidity. Gay marriage before didn’t exist. They weren’t allowed to get married. It’s not equivalent to marriage, it is marriage. See comment on stupidity.
    * That means if you are a man married to a woman, then your marriage is now equivalent to being gay.
If you are a man married to a woman then you are straight…
    Hopefully.
    * The bible says that people who are gay will go to Hell, and I’m pretty sure that includes any sin that is “equivalent” to being gay.
That’s funny, cause I’m not sure. My opinion is that if you glare or spit at every gay person you see, God will see that you tried. And I know everything about the subject. Because I am. Because I said so.
    * So thanks to the liberals, everybody who is married in the states of California and Massachusetts is now going to hell.
I see, hell bound by association. With that logic, everyone is going to hell. Barack Obama supports gay marriage. Obama has spoken to John McCain before. I know someone who knows someone… who supports John McCain who allowed Obama to speak not only to him, but about him.
    Were all going to hell!
Funny how that works out isn’t it.
63% of the population, according to a recent poll would oppose a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
    Proud to work towards equality.
    For ALL people.
Californians: trailblazing in marriage equality since 1948. (Lift of ban on interracial marriage)
To Shelley: I’m curious about how you feel about the fact that the judge who made the ruling was a republican
Also, Brandon, congrats on the engagement. I am proud to be equal to you.

sorry, but this comment is as absurd as insulting to a Catholic, homosexuals are human beings like us, with whom or small as a matter of sinner, and what is even more preposterous is saying that the laws of God are conditioned by the man, please have a little more one of culture, because hate is sin, and you go to hell for hating homosexuals

Three things, one, grammar is your friend. Try to get aquainted dear.

Two, in saying such things puts you on the same level as the individuals that post here — try to be a -little- more tolerant than the individuals you are trying to shoot down. It looks better on the resume.

Three, if you’re a little bit tired about them ‘pointing the finger’ at people and such, you ever considered the little factor that um…no one -makes- you read this trollop?

    Cheers,
