Time to start drilling in ANWR

Friends,

We need oil - that’s the plain truth.

God has given America a great deal of oil. It’s all in Alaska. It’s waiting for brave patriotic Americans to drill it up and sell it on the open-market, just like Jesus intended. Unfortunately the liberals and eco-fraudsters want all that oil to stay underground. They don’t want you to have gas for your car.

They think that we shouldn’t drill for oil because Alaska is a “wildlife-reserve”.

Next time a liberal tells you that we shouldn’t be drilling for oil, you should ask them: What’s the point of having a wildlife reserve if nobody can afford to go there? Are our tax-dollars just going to fund a patch of useless ground full of plants and animals that nobody gets to see or hunt? What would be the point in that? STR.com says it’s time to get drilling so that we can enjoy off-roading!

Those folks who think we shouldnt drill for oil in ANWR are a bunch of city-dwelling idiots. What’s the point of all this open country if we cannot drive around our awesome jeeps? This vehicle gets 15 miles to the galon, high gas prices are simply unfair to those of us who love to kick up awesome snow.

Soon it’s going to be impossible for most folks to be able to afford this great form of entertainment, and then nobody would be able to drive around ANWR - and what would be the point in that?

Preserve our heratige: Vote John McCain for President so that we can preserve the sporting activity that made America great: Off-Roading!

The lives of animals are considered an acceptable sacrifice to Shelley, if it preserves the nation’s time-honored, professional, recreational activity that is off-roading.
I can almost hear Bush laughing.
Where is Keith Olbermann when we need him?

Keith Olbermann would have this site, like I am going to here in a moment.

America (the 48 states) is sitting on one of the largest oil reserves on the planet. And we don’t use it…. why? Drilling for oil off shore is out of the question too, it won’t provide a drop of oil for ten years and when it is fully underway in *TWENTY* years it won’t effect gas prices at all. McCain has constantly voted against drilling for oil in Alaska. He used to be a huge independent but recently he’s been kissing so much republican ass it’s almost painful to see what has happened to him. He *used* to have good ideas, and I only hope that *if* he get’s the presidency he will go back to those ideas when he reads his Alzheimer’s book and remembers what motivated him to begin with.

“What’s the point of having a wildlife reserve if nobody can afford to go there?”

The answer: Preserving the fucking nature, lest the entire climate comes crashing down and ends humanity.

That being said, drilling in Alaska would only reap benefits in years and would be so expensive (anyone working in that cold could exscpect a high salary and equipment can easily break at those temperatures) that the differrence on the price wouldn´t even be all that much noticed.

“Are our tax-dollars just going to fund a patch of useless ground full of plants and animals that nobody gets to see or hunt? ”

Since when does “leaving the place as it is” ewquire funds?

“This vehicle gets 15 miles to the galon, high gas prices are simply unfair to those of us who love to kick up awesome snow.”

Your problemb. Had you bought a less gas guzzling car, you wouldn´t have those problems. Try going for gas or electricity, might be cheaper by now.

We should drill in ANWR, because it does not damage the enviroment if drilling is done right, however ANWR will not get us out of rut until we start looking for new energy sources.

That piece sounds like something Colbert or Stewart would say tounge-n-cheek. It was obviously written for the greens to knock out of the park. I live in Texas and we drill everywhere, hunt everywhere and offroad everywhere and, believe it or not, animals still get overpopulated. Maybe we need more hunters for more balance. Come on, where’s the evolution theory you were brow beat with by our glorious public schools? Did not our dna randomly become better because of harsh environments for, forever? I mean everything has come together randomly for a perfect eco system automatically so far, why mess with that formula? You may be standing in the way of the superbeing of the future! If that don’t happen then you should start hoping for the rapture cause all the countries that arent pussified yet are drilling all they want. Vote how you want but it don’t matter. The America our founders created was sold out a long time ago.

I think you should drill, since I am definetly Pro-global-warming. I never liked cold winters anyway, and Alaska is too cold even in the summer. This will also lead to more biodiversity in Europe and the US, as it will introduce new animals such as the Malaria-fly.
And, just look at Mars and how alife it is after the climate change over there a few billions of years ago! Certainly we will able to handle that as well.

@Proud German, I firmly believe that war crazed politicians in Washington clamoring for a nuclear first strike on Iran, which would trigger nuclear retaliation by other nations and all out nuclear annihilation,to be way more of an imminent threat to the planet than some dimwits in SUVs,etc. could ever be! Saving the planet would require stopping the itchy nuclear trigger fingers first and foremost! Ron Paul has heard these insane politicians arguing in favor of a nuclear strike on Iran as a valid option!

For years McCain has opposed drilling for oil in Alaska`s arctic - he calls for more offshore oil drilling. The real reason are the high costs in Alaska (salery, equipment…)
Not only the Liberals, also Republicans like Gov. Schwarzenegger said, we have to protect Alaska`s Wilderness.
Since years they found and even use such alternatives, like biodiesel fuel, ethanol and so on - sooner or later it will become more common. Fossil fuels and oil reserves are running low in some decades or even sooner. Ask your scientists, you have a lot of them in the States.
Of course, we still have some hidden reserves, in the deep sea for instant. But to drill for oil in the deep sea or in Arctic conditions are costly.
However I am convinced, the gas price will not drop. Even if the States will drill for oil in Alaska. This has nothing to do with Liberals or Republicans, behind that are too much global commercial explotations. They are responsible. You think, only the US has high prices - this problem concerns everybody worldwide. We all are upset, Americans, Europeans, Australians…. We need our cars, not only US citizens. Of course, they offer some cheaper alternatives too.
Preserve your heratige: You can rent or buy a Mountain Bike for your beloved off-roading….and you will safe Americas Wilderness!

I am not such a convinced environmentalist, but I like the nature since my earliest years. I spend my chíldhood in a rural area in Greece, far off cities. I had a great time! Unfortunatelly I have to live in the near of a city now. (suburb of Vienna)
What I want to say is, I agree, the nature proteced areas are for people, to enjoy the wilderness. My greatgrandchildren have a right to see and to watch the nature and the animals as well. If industries occupy and clean up woods and meadows, the nature will disappeared and our descendents can`t enjoy the same adventures in the nature what I had in the 60ies.
On the one hand I support the idea of wild parks - on the other hand I am against such nature reserves, which you can`t enter. Our problem in West and Central Europe is the high population. Right now I live in Austria and it is hard to find a place without people. (In eastern Austria we still have some great woods, but in Germany, France, Netherlands, Britan you can`t find virgin woods anymore. These countries are covered by cities, streets and industries.)
In Greece and all over the Mediterranean, the touristbusiness and the industry destroyed many parts along the Mediterranean coast.
You can be glad, you still have a lot of virgin woods, meadows, wetlands, mountains and deserts all over North America. Keep your nature - your descendents will honor you and they would like to say the same like you: Preserve our heratige!

I have a great idea! How about if we drill in Shelly’s back yard. Yeah! We can put oil derricks all over her property and sell ALL THE OIL to multinational corporations. They reap the profits, she gets ZERO and see how that crack whore feels about it.

  11. STRfails July 6th, 2008 8:54 pm

    @America:
That’s actually a good idea, even if we don’t find anything. Don’t forget to set up a few drills in Billy Bob Neck’s yard too.

It seems to me that Shelley and her industrial cronies and religious phonies are more like orcs working for Saruman and Saurun in their eternal quest for world dominhation in their fake patriotism and fascist like nationalism, dissing everything not “American”, whatever the hell that means.

Put i drilling machine in shelleys backyard as we3ll just for kicks and poison her whole inbread family who would volunteer for some sort of Hitler Jugend anyway….
